    Petty little whine ...

Last week a car ran into my neighbors' yard and damaged their 40+ year privet hedge. The neighbor then cut down the entire length of the hedge ... about 20 yards or more ... the screened their entire front yard. Now the lights from the road ... we live on a state hwy ... shine thru my living room every evening... all evening. It is very distracting and I am not sure what I am going to do. I don't know why they had to cut the entire thing down. Besides the lights - the noise level has increased substantially. I guess I have to go look for denser curtain for the den. I realise it is their yard and their choice... but man I wish they hadn't done that. :hissyfit: :

Don't you hate when neighbors do things in their own yard without asking your permission first! LOL

I know how you feel. My neighbors had a big tree in their front yard that blocked the afternoon sun from my house. One day a big wind storm came along and knocked off a huge branch. Two days later, they cut the entire tree down!! The whole thing! Nothing was wrong with the rest of it, but they chopped it down to the ground!

Now I have the sun beating on my house all afternoon. Not only that, but I'm so used to it being by my driveway, that I've actually driven past my house because it's not there!

These are new neighbors too ... I don't think they thought about the sound abatement properties of the hedge before cutting it ... now .. it can't be replaced. They could put up a fence... but it would be expensive, ugly, and not as effective. :

My neighbors keep cutting and trimming the trees between our properties. Now I get to see their ugly faces as they stare right into my kitchen. Idiots.

The only thing my neighbor does to irritate me is constantly mowing and working on his yard. I think he does it on purpose to make mine look bad.lol He knows if he does it I'll do mine so I'm sure he does it just to aggravate me. Not to make his yard look better.lol What do ya'll think. Do you think he's doing it on purpose or not.lol Don't you just hate it when you have a neighbor that cares how his yard looks.lol

If I did something that had my neighbor jumping, I'd do it more just for the giggle.

Oh Jolie, if you live in a cold area of the country, you're gonna feel it this winter now. I know how you feel, especially if those 'hedges' were 20 plus feet tall.

My new neighbor works nights so she has to leave her outside light on. I'm not sure when she leaves for work and have no idea when she returns. I'm thinking she just leaves it on so she can get down the steps without breaking her neck. Anyhow, that light shines into my bedroom window. I have room darkening blinds and they help some but it's almost as if it's daytime out. Drives me bonkers. AND............often she leaves the light on all day long! Only thing that bothers me about that is that is just a waste of energy. Nothing to be done but moan and groan.

Perhaps in conversation you may suggest a motion sensor light fixture to help save on her energy bill.

I bet you are on the other side of my neighbor. She mows and primps her yard EVERY day including Saturday & Sunday. She finally got tired of me not primping in my yard and came over one day and redid all the flower beds and put in new flowers. I was pretty shocked until I spoke with her and she said she is bored and decided that my yard could use her help. I laughed and said "knock yourself out". It is pretty embarrassing though when I get yard of the month and she doesn't and she does all the work.

With my neighbor, her outside porch light is hooked up with one of the plugs that has their computer or something on so her porch light is on constantly
