Question How do you tell a friend...

...that the reason you don't hang out with her anymore is because you can't stand to be around her husband?

Is the husband "new" or you just had "enough"? Either way, that's hard, but I would approach it honestly.... Like, "I have such a better time with you when our husbands aren't around." Would that work? :

*She may think you're hitting on her......j/k*

I have that problem too. Plus, I can't stand to be around her kids.(Not young kids, but in their 20's). I just came right out and told her that I'll go places with her, but not if everyone else comes along.

You might also tell her you don't like being the ''3rd wheel''.

If you want to go somewhere with just her, tell her it's 'girls night out'.

LOL! She's been my bestfriend since 2nd grade. She dated him for years when I didn't live here, but they had a rocky relationship, violent fighting, etc...
I never really liked him the few times I did meet him when I'd come down to see her on vacation or something, he has never held a job for more than 6 months in the 8ish yrs they've been together & I think he really takes advantage of his situation. He's just always rubbed me the wrong way. And now that I've moved back, she wants to hang out all the time & I keep having to make excuses, like how many times can I say I'm not feeling well, when she knows that I go out all the time.
Plus, she complains about him all the time, yet continues to let him walk all over her, I think she's just afraid to be alone.

I invite her out, just us, all the time and he won't let her. She told me that he won't even let her take a nap after a long day at work, just to rest alittle before dinner..he gets mad. WTF!?!?
All he does is sit online all day smoking cigarette & weed, I've been over there many times at different times of day and he's still in his pajamas.

Be honest with her and explain if she gets rid of him how you would be willing to help her through that. She might want to get rid of the controlling twit anyway.

When she calls and asks you to go somewhere, ask if *insert deadbeat husbands name* is going. If she says yes, say no thanks. Pretty soon, she HAS to get the hint.
What is it with women and their loser mates? Sheesh.

This kind of crap pisses me off. He won't ''LET'' her?? WTH is this, 1950? I don't know what's worse, him controlling her, or her LETTING him control her.

I dare a man to ever NOT LET me do something.

That happened today., we were supposed to go to a concert together, she told me days ago that he couldn't come, then when I find out this afternoon that he was going I told her I couldn't go.

    GIRL! ME NEITHER!
I am appalled that she puts up with it, its not like he has anything to offer, he's a loser, yet she does whatever he says. And he's such a baby about things, we went to a restaurant once and they don't have fries, they have potato chips...I have never seen a MAN pout so much in my whole life.
Its sad, because its unlike her to let a man treat her like he does and use her, financially like he does, like I said..I just think she's afraid of being alone.

    I wish.
No woman wants to hear from their friend that the person they married is a loser pr!ck. It's not worth it....to lose her as a friend. Then again, the only time I see her is when I go up to her work, once in awhile we'll go shopping of something & its always a big production when I go pick her up. Once he didn't want to drive to the post office and knew that I drive past (well 4 blocks out of my way) the post office on my way home, so he asked me to take a package in for him to mail it....I was like, Are Your Legs Broke?

Her and I have a mutual friend who married a guy we both knew wasn't the one for her (he wasn't a d!ck or anything..he's actually a great friend of mine, he just wasn't the one for her), they stayed married right around a year and then after the crazy divorce & drama, she asked us one day why we didn't tell her how we felt about him and we both said, because you would be mad at us....she said, Yeah Your Probably Right.
