The only way I have found is when I print them at work we only have B & W printers so no problem. I have tried to turn the color off on my printer and they still print in color. It was really aggravating when I had a inkjet printer. I have a color laser printer and it takes forever to use a color cartridge so I don't mind. I have heard a lot of people complain about them though. Sometimes there is an option instead of clicking print - hit the help and see if you can request it to be mailed.

I have no advice for you but I hate that too. I always, when I can, set my printer to black and white and fast draft so it doesn't use so much ink. But like you, I hate it when it just starts to print.

I hate when they waste all my ink for a coupon that's only about 4x6'', and then print their freaking advertisment on the rest of the paper!

And this is one reason I haven't replaced my printer. There are a few things, on occasion, that I would like to print, like my meds list. But online coupons eat up so much ink that I wasted more than I saved. I just have to rely on my newspaper insert for coupons and my own ability to watch the ads and save money.
