    Unhappy Whine!!!

I totally have a big lump on my a$$ and it won't go away!! The surgeon lanced it 2 weeks ago and it looked like it was going away. Between the meds and "procedure" it went from the size of a baseball under my skin to a grape as of last night. Then this morning- HUGE again. I see a different doctor this morning and I hoping she can/will give me more antibiotics as I am headed out of town later today. Crazy enough when I said that it hurt last time (understatement) they gave me 60 Vicadin. I don't take many meds - it just seemed like overkill- but now I guess the 55 I have left will be going to the beach with me! :-)
I really do not want to be on the sharp end of that lance thing again... PASS!!

    Whine done :-)

I'd recommend getting a second opinion and to definitely get it checked out again. Not sure what it is but it sounds incredibly uncomfortable.

Hope you feel better soon. I think I would be looking for a secon opinion as well. I don't want to alarm you but a friend of mine started off with something similar on his leg & it progressed to that flesh eating bacteria. Could you have perhaps gotten bitten by a spider?

My son had something like that. It was a pilonidal cyst by his tailbone. The doctors kept either lancing it or telling him to let it drain on its own. It went into hyperdrive and they ended up removing not only the cyst, but all the tissue around it and it left a huge gaping hole that they ended up having to use a wound vac to get it to heal. It took about four months and was very uncomfortable. I agree with ssangnomno and sunniekiss, get a second opinion.
Some days, it's not even worth chewing through the restraints.

All I can say is "ouch". I hope this time the lancing works and the other posters are wrong. But, it wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion. Of course...that can't probably happen until you are back from vacation so I hope this 'thing' doesn't ruin your time off.
Never argue with an idiot. It will bring you down to his level and he’ll win because of experience.

Thanks for all the good thoughts and support! So far the second round of antibiotics seem to be doing the trick with this lump. The doctors (I saw 3 different ones) all called it an abscess which is why it needed to be drained. If it comes back I probably could seek a second opinion. I also have a colonoscopy scheduled for 7/1 so I would guess that they will see what they can see from that angle; if anything at all. Would you believe I'm only 42?!?!:-) Plus- my doctor just put me on high blood pressure meds. I have no idea how to not stress out over everything. I am a single parent working full time and not getting any child support for the last 6 months because X decided to quit truck driving because it's to hard on his new family. That just made me laugh. Oh well... I am the winner there anyway!
