The people who have it (you can choose inlue of benifits, meaning take the insurance and get paid holidays or don't and have higher pay rate) they pay $60 a week, $6000 a year deductable PLUS a copay and almost nothing is covered. BS right?

P.S. Joanne, the Caughman in Findlay clinic goes on pay scale for medical and dental. It's were a few of my friend go. Call them.
As someone who works in Employee Benefits I can tell you that what you are paying through your husband's union AND what others are paying at your job...probably doesn't cover half the premiums being charged. The union and the employer are picking up the rest of the tab.

I have pretty good insurance through work and my premiums are about $300 a month...spread out over my weekly paychecks. The company pays approximately 70% of the actual cost...and it's me and hubby being covered. (That does include dental and vision coverage.)
Never argue with an idiot. It will bring you down to his level and he’ll win because of experience.

All I know is, what we pay weekly and what we don't pay when we go to the doctor/dentist or eye doc. We are both Union, he pays $40 a month...anything over eight hours in a work day is over time, sat double, sunday triple. For me, I pay $16 every two weeks...I don't carry their insurance, but the union for us means our pay raises twice a year, our shift rates, overtime, there's alot in our contract. I understand the Union pays into the health care, they also pay into his 401K , retirement and COLA.

I havn't been to the doctor in years, since my last pregnancy, I just do the yearly woman exames. My work doesn't offer it, since it is a small town owned operation.
I would love to see the plan that Obama has to offer, with prices and everything included. Sign me up if it's cheap enough.
When I was married to my first husband, the town offered either free health insurance (we did have co-pays though), or a pay raise for that year. Naturally, everyone voted health insurance.
Since I don't have health insurance, I wouldn't go to a doctor, or ER, unless I literally fealt like I was dying.

Okay I don't want to get into a debate/agruement with anyone about health insurance. Why do people think government run health care is going to work? We have a perfect example on how government-run healthcare doesn't work with Medicare. Senior citizens who have Medicare also have to have a sublemental health care plan as well as a drung prescription plan.
Who is going to pay for this massive health care plan anyway...the government??? WE are the government & government is broke. Congress is going to have to pass legislation increasing the debt ceiling & this is without healthcare being funded. Our country is now basically owned by China.

Ask anyone on medicaid and they will say government run healthcare works. They get bladder pads delivered, scooters, visits etc., all for free including dental and optical. Medicare does not provide as much as medicaid unless you pay for supplemental insurance.

Examples that govt run health care works... lets go with Canada and Europe... I have friends in both countries and we've all discussed it at length and NONE of them would rather live w/ american insurance.

O my Mom is 86 & on Medicare. If Medicare worked so great why does she have to have a suplemental health insurance plan that costs her over $700 every 3 months PLUS $45 a month for a drug plan which she still has a co-pay.
The problem with health care costs is the cost of malpractice, too many unecessary tests, too much red tape, too many hands in the till, fraud...I could go on & on.
Tort reform was supposed to solve this issue but it just made it worse.

Last week there was an article in our local newspaper about an illegal Mexican immigrant who was caught speeding. He didn't have his care registered, he didn't have car insurance, he didn't have a license. What he did have was a Mexican resident card, $3,000 CASH, plus 2 ACCESS Cards in 2 different names. ACCESS Cards in Pennsylvania provide food, cash assistance & medical care. Pennsylvania law is written that in order to be eligible for an ACCESS Card residents must have been in this country legally for at least 5 years before being able to obtain a card plus hav eless than $1,000 in cash & savings. So this guy was illegal, not in the state for 5 years & had cash on him so how did he get 2 ACCESS Cards??? PLUS....the Immigration Service LET HIM GO WITHOUT PUNISHMENT WITH HIS UNREGISTERED, UNINSURED CAR.

Why should I be paying his guy's way?

Medicad is NOT medicare. Medicare recipients pay a monthly premium of $97.50 a month. Medicare does NOT cover dental, optical or hearing aids where Medicaid does. To have complete coverage under Medicare you must pay for a supplemental insurance policy at an additional cost or go with a medicare approved HMO. You must also get other policies to cover dental and optical if you have medicare. My mother gets a whopping $197 a month from social security before her $97.50 deduction for medicare. She opted for the HMO program and save on the Blue Cross/Blue Shield gap insurance. It is wonderful except, she gets no scooter, no poise pads delivered or supplied and a host of other medical/health supplies that those on Medicaid receive or if she had the supplemental insurance. Oxygen is free for medicaid recipients but she has a copay of $87 dollars a month. Her chemo/radiation co-pays are $50. She just could not afford it, so she goes without oxygen even though she has small cell lung cancer, Afib, plus COPD. The system is flawed when those who can no longer work must pay so much and yet get so little. Medicare without supplemental insurance is like being self pay. She does not qualify for medicaid, food stamps or anything else because she has a burial fund in the bank. Once she is broke, she would qualify. Even if she pre-pays her burial, they consider that an asset and it is the same as money in the bank. Go figure.

Europe has great healthcare. But I think the Austrians have the best system anywhere.

Medicaid is also paid by your local counties and states and it is the largest portion of any state budget. Go take a look at your state budget and it will probably give you a stroke (oops only look if you have really good insurance and can afford the co-pays).
