    Another vent about car trouble.....

When will this ever stop???? Yesterday Aggie called the rental place to get a rental car for a few days. Ins. co. said they're willing to pay $20.00 a day for a rental and the rest comes out of our pocket. Plus, they wanted a $50.00 deposit. Not good, but we need a car. Aggie talked to the guy and he said he would be by our house around 4:00 to bring Aggie and I a rental.

Guy arrives at 4:55 w/rental and gives me the keys, all paperwork and leaves. About an hour later we leave to go somewhere and the rental cars inspection and plates are EXPIRED. Place was already closed by 6:00 and isn't open today. They're hearing from me tomorrow. I want our deposit back, free rental. This is ridiculous. Can anything else go wrong????

    wow

I guess if you got pulled over for the tags, it would be the rentals place fault, not yours and they would get the ticket. In fact, if you did get pulled over, I would even play dumb about it, I would be like.. oh my gosh, are you kidding, we just got this rental and I would have never guessed to check and see if the tags were up on it since those are not my responsibilities while renting...

I think it's not our responsibility either. However, the guy across the street from us is a police officer. He said that if we get stopped and get a ticket we're responsible. I say NO, it's a rental and Enterprise should pay for it. He did say though if we went to court on it, it would probably be dismissed since we're not the owners of the car and it's a rental.

Actually it would be your responsibility if you were pulled over. You are the one driving the car. You would then be able to take the car rental company to small claims court & you would win but, for me, it wouldn't be worth the trouble. I would wait until the following morning & ask for a new rental car with current tags. Sigh...I hate companies like that.

Oh heck the Suburban I had in January from Enterprise had Hawaii plates and they had expired in December 2010. I did not even notice they were expired until the 3rd day I had it when a very stressed out rental agent called to find out exactly where I was so he could bring over the new stickers. If you got a ticket you could go to court and it would be thrown out. More than likely when you show the police the rental information they would not ticket you unless the tag was registered to another vehicle. Don't sweat it just call the rental place and get them to switch it out. If you have to go somewhere before they can swap it out just play the innocent victim and you wouldn't get ticketed - except for maybe by your neighbor.

Sometimes you gotta laugh at situations or else you'll lose your mind.
Don't worry about what people think. They don't do it very often.

We received 1 day of free rental. That's it. I'm never going back to Enterprise again. They didn't help at all.

They gave you one free day which is more than they were required to give you which was nothing. I have used Enterprise a lot of times and they are 1000% better than most other rental companies.
