You would do better looking somewhere like realtor.com than zillow - but if you have a realtor they "should" be finding you houses to look at since that is what they get paid to do.
I don't disagree. They have our home at an unusually LOW price value.
I was suggesting zillow as a tool, as a easy place to search for houses for sale., make a list of ones that you are interested in, then ask your realtor about them. I don't think you should rely on a realor to find you a home., best to search yourself. When a realtor thinks only about commision, they will show the most expensive houses in that market.
When we bought our house, we researched a ton on the internet, then showed that list of the ones we wanted to see to the realtor., they only wanted to show us houses that they thought we would like. We told them not to waste ours and theire time showing us houses that we had no interest in ie: we wanted an older home, not a newer home, we wanted a bungalow style house, not a ranch style house, etc...

I have also noticed on zillow that lots of houses they have listed "for sale" really are not for sale. The reason I suggested realtor.com is that it can really zoom in on specific areas, price range and stuff. Another good way to find out houses you are interested in is to just drive around the neighborhoods you are interested in. I do agree that most realtors especially now with low amount of sales going around they are looking for the biggest commission they can get.

LOL! Thats the only place I havent looked!!!!!

I dont rely on my realtor at all. She sends me stuff that I have seen on the market weeks before. I do all my own research. I use zillow.com but take it with a grain of salt. I also use truila.com and a bunch of other sites including local ones, in addition to realtor.com.

I have 6 houses scheduled to look at this week. Hopefully one of these will be "THE ONE". Heck I will just settle for okay at a good price and sellers wanting to SELL! LOL

I even had a realestate agent tell one on the owners of a house I bid on not to take my offer not because i bid 10,000 under asking price but because she did not like who I was pre-approved from. I did end up reporting her and she was fined because it is againt the law what she did. I did make up my mind I am going back to Texas and yes I have looked at houses and I got one right away, so I am back in Pa getting my things together and letting my family know it is not that I do not want to be close but finding a house is what did it. Hang in there, it will happen
Where are you looking in Pennsylvania?

OP did you find a home yet?

Still havent found a house yet. However, the sale might yet again not go thru on mine. Last time it was 2 wks before closing that the buyers bank pulled the funds and this time its less than a week and I am getting conflicting reports about the closing. It may or may not happen. The underwriters bounced it back for more documentation from the buyer. This guy has a government job and I'm told excellent credit so I have no idea what the issue or issues could be. I have made the decision that if the sale does not go thru I will take it off the market and stay. I just cant take this crap any more!!!!

A friend of mine was 2 hours from closing the sale on his house. When the realtor called, something went wrong with the VA paperwork. And they pulled funding.
So, he is still making 2 mortgage payments a month. He moved and rented the house for a while. But decided to sell it, when the last lease ran out.
It is painful for him, and he did not do anything to slow it down. He accepted an offer that pays off the mortgage only.
So hard, not to facepalm some people

Banks and lenders are having to be more careful on loans since the housing meltdown. Buyers are having to prove that they can actually afford the house not just have great credit - which it should have been that way all along and there would not have been such a housing boom & bust.

I'm a bit father east than you...too bad. I am going to see my Mom's home in the Hazleton area & I would have given you a great deal & it doesn't need any major work.

Okay my house closed on Friday. I had 2 days notice!!!!!! I didnt want to start packing until I got the closing info. So needless to say I was scrambling. My offer was accepted on a house the same day but I cant close until the end of April on that one. Fingers crossed it goes thru. Right now I am living at my Mom's-its kinda crazy. I dont start my job until April 4th and I will be moving into a friends basement for the few weeks. This has been one of the most excruciating ordeals I have had to go thru. NEVER again!!!!! LOL
