Potty Talk
I walk in a small office building. On one floor the restrooms are by the fax machine, on another next to the break room. Ever since I have worked there people talk about who does or does not wash their hands after using the restroom and if they wash their hands long enough. This is an office not a doctor's office and we all have out own computers and telephones in our own little cube. Am I just weird to find this kind of talk juvenile? People are outright shunned if someone claims they didn't wash their hands after using the restroom.

People will always find a reason to talk about people. As for washing your hands - it should always be done no matter what.

It's no worse than using the word ''potty'' talk when referring to adults. LOL
(Sorry, the word ''potty'' is a pet peeve of mine)

While it does seem a bit juvenile, there are legitimate concerns of people not washing their hands. You may have your own phone, cubical, etc. but when you leave the restroom, you will be touching the same door the potty handed person touched. Open that refrigerator in the lunch/break room? Well, potty hand did too.
I don't believe in "shunning" or "gossiping" but the situation should be addressed.

Mrs Pepperpot is a lady who always copes with the tricky situations that she finds herself in....

While I would not gossip, I would care about who did not wash his/her hands. First off, I find it disgusting that someone would use the bathroom & not wash his/her hands. I then have to wonder what else they have done & not washed their hands after. Are they going to shake my hand after just sneezing into theirs' without having cleaned those same hands. Or will they handle something of mine, after having just finished wiping themselves in the bathroom? YUCK!
Very relevant to me. While I would not shun someone who did this, I would never want them to touch anything of mine & I would def not eat anything they might bring into the office.

Thankfully I work in a small office and if someone didn't wash their hands I would just send them back to the bathroom to wash them. Would also make them wash the door knob and the light switch. YUCK!!!

We posted this 'cartoon' on the insides of the doors of the restrooms in the office I once worked at and it cured the problem...No conversations needed....

Thanks for the cartoon.
I'll put that up and the next time I hear people talking about others who didn't wash their hands I'll suggest that they talk to that person themselves rather than talking about them behind their back.

In my work, if your in the back classroom you can also hear if the water is running for washing of hands or not.
We also have germ x in there.
I know some use this instead of washing with soap and water, what do you think? Is rubbing of the hands with germ x as good as washing with soap?

in my opinion: NO.
germX does not get under your nails, or rinse off.
You need to clean your hands after using the bathroom.
germX has a place, but is not a replacement.
So hard, not to facepalm some people

Germx does NOT kill all germs !
I wash my hands probably 100 times or more a day (I'm a nurse) . I got in the habbit long ago to leave the water on while washing my hands, use the paper towel I used to dry my hands to turn water off and use paper towel to open the door to go out lol, then I use Germx when I'm out of the restroom.
It's just plain nasty for a man to touch his dingy to pee then not wash..then eat..then use phone etc... same with a woman, uumm..the toilet paper isn't the only thing that goes down there to wipe...so does your hand, so wash them, with SOAP!
