Hotels.com froze my checking account a day before my tax return is to be direct deposited
On a scale of 1-10, I am 11 in the pissed off scale. I booked a hotel on hotel.com, paid for my room and later realized that the date was incorrect. I immediately called them and tried to change it, they stated they couldn't get me the exact room and offered to refund. Within minutes I tried to log into my internet banking and check my balance by phone, I am overdrawn because they triple charged my account, after I refreshed I was not able to log in at all . Of course, this is not during business hours, so I am screwed. And of course, my tax return is being deposited tomorrow, now that I am overdrawn over 400. Goodness, I can just never get ahead.

Funny how places can take your money right away but take forever to refund it.
I hope it gets straightened out without too much hassle.

How can anyone freeze your checking account, except for your bank at which you bank at?
I had to write a check for groceries before the snow storm, knowing I wouldn't have enough to cover it, but yet knowing by the end of the week I would make that deposit to make up for it. The grocery store sure doesn't have the right to freeze my account. I am not understanding, did hotel.com freeze your checking, or did your bank?
Either way, I would be calling your bank and telling them the situation, and that if they wanted their money, they had better unfreeze my checking account!

The only ones who can freeze your account, is the bank and the IRS. (Oh, and a Judge).
How can anyone freeze it if it's not during banking hours? Most likely it was just a glitch or something that kept you from signing in.

I know with my bank between 1 to 3 AM there abouts I can't log into my banking acct. I think that is when they do there updates to accts or whatever they do. Try logging into your bank acct this morning and see if you can get in. If not, then call the bank.

I'm not sure, but the Bank may automatically freeze the account if its overdrawn. I sure hope you get this all worked out!

My husband works for Experian and I know from listening to him work that most banks lock down their sites for atleast an hour every night to do updates... not just their updates, but updates on the programs they use in tandem w/ the 3 big credit reporting companies... I agree w/ everyone else, check again. I'm fairly certain a website can't freeze your account, what likely happened is the bank locked it up due to the over draw.

That is what happened LOL I feel so stupid. However, they DID overdraft me $439, they actually charged me for the hotel 4 times, not 3, plus my $39 overdraft fee. Waiting for the bank to open @ 9.

That would totally tick me off if some company took out that much money and overcharged me like that. I would definitly be getting a hold of that hotel place and putting in major gripes, and also demanding the $39 overdraft fee that you were charged by your bank, because of their stupid mistake!!! I would want that money back yesterday!

Glad that is all it was and that it isn't frozen. But not glad they overdrew your acct. I agree with Jasmine, I would call them and and tell them to straighten it out and because it is their mistake they can pay the overdraft charge.
