Your deceased mother's husband .... I don't think so. They may try to "scare" it out of you ... but I agree... I don't think there is any legal recourse for them to come after you.

I know that they cannot hold me responsible. I also know that they can make him leave and then I would have to bring him here. Not legally but I would feel morally obligated to care for him. It is the added stress that I do not need. I had told my mother many times that things she was doing was wrong and she could end up in jail. She would just play old and dumb which she was far from dumb. The irony, if you could call it ironic, is neither one, my Mom nor her hubby would have done 1/100th of the things I did for them for me.

I am just so tired of always being the bigger person. I am tired of doing the right thing because it is the right thing to do, while I watch crappy people get so much.

My first grandchild is set to arrive Jan.16th. Two baby showers were held. One where they live and one here by family. I was totally eliminated from all the planning. I asked and was told I could contribute. However, I was not included in anything and my sons mother-in -law did it all. She did manage to text me about 11:30 pm last night to inform me my share is $550. I want to tell her to shove it. But I already said months ago I would pay half even though that was when I was supposed to be involved.

I am so done. I am so tired of being used and abused and taken for granted. I always be nice and bite my tongue. Consider others peoples feelings and circumstances yet I am not given the same considerations. My hubby has prostate cancer, malignant melanoma and a brain tumor. On top of that he has an undiagnosed illness, I think it is MS. I get to see him in constant pain and watch as his muscles waste away and atrophy.

    I am burnt.

I would point out that you were eliminated from planning and would not have supported that amount. I think your stress and expences over your husband's illness is explaination enough. Next time you deal with these people - give them a dollar amount rather then saying "half".

Second.......WTH??!! Your HALF is $550?? What is she doing...renting out Madison Square Garden!!?? :O

That's insane. Where you even invited?? If not, I'd tell her no way!!

My sister and I planned a baby shower (my niece) AND a 50th Wedding Anniversary Party (our parents) and I doubt we spent that much combined.

I was invited. LOL. It is at a pizza place. When I checked their site to see how much per person pizza and pop was the cost was $10.95 per person. I fed over 60 people with open bar for $600 at the Willow Brook Ballroom after my Mom died. J can guarantee not one person from my side will be there. (except for hubby, and my son). I do not think I will go. After the wedding crap, I just do not have it in me. I did not expect to be in on the wedding plans. No prob. But snide comments that were made to me were really hurtful. I cannot say anything because it would have put a black mark on their wedding so I sucked it up, kept my mouth shut and moved on. But now this. With everything else going on im my life, I do not know if I could keep it together and suck it up again. So maybe it is best if I stay home.

Stay home with your checkbook. $ 1100.00 I could feed an army. They obviously figured they could make the plans and stick you with the full bill probably including their "gifts".

I went. I was so disappointed. But I did not let that interfere. It was a good time. But I could have done so much better for so much less. At the end, my son asked me if I was ok. I lost it. I apologized because I did not want to be the reason for a dark cloud over their shower. But I would NEVER would have approved the huge banner she had made that had the face of a hawk and said, waiting for Baby Hawks arrival. The thing was scary. I would have approved one that had a baby hawk in a nest with mom and dad that was colorful and child like. It could have been part of the baby room decor. I swore my son to secrecy. Today, I got a text that I have $150 coming back to me. For chair covers that were not used for the Mom and Dad and for 5 less people. Really? $300 for 2 chair covers and 5 less people? That is crazy. I think Slance68 was dead on when she said I got stuck with the full bill.
