Filing taxes and finding out that one of my children (17 yrs. old) does not qualify anymore for the child tax credit, because she is 17. Why? She's only a junior in highschool, I take care of her, put a roof over her head, feed her etc... but yet they say since she is now 17 she no longer qualifies. ok, whatever

I thought you could still claim them if they were a full time student?

Not for child tax credit... The child must be under the age of 17, as of December 31 of the tax year.

You can still claim them as a dependent just not for the EIC credits. I found this out last year when my friend called me having a hissy fit because for the first time in 25 years she actually had to pay taxes.

DBD... so true. My step son is like that. Everyone else in the family leaves people alone on the computer, he has to stand there and watch everything you do, and tries to read it.

his dad tells him to go do somethinbg else, my daughter glares at him, and I will shut the computer down completely. he can not sign on, because he needs an admin password to do so.
So hard, not to facepalm some people
