My neighbors have it and have a lot of problems too. Most recently they got on the phone with Direct and ended up with 2 new channels they couldn't get up until then. Direct wanted to keep them as customers! I'll pass on both Dish and Direct and stick with Charter. Works for me!

We do and lose the signal a lot especially when it rains. They're telling us now that a neighbors pine tree is blocking our signal and that we need to move our satellite dish. Thats what one service man told us, another one says it wouldn't do any good we still couldn't get a good signal even if we move it so I don't know what we'll do in the future. We may have to get cable instead.

We've had Directv for probably 3 years now. We had them at our old house and had 1 HD receiver and 5 regular receivers. The HD tv never lost signal....NEVER. The other receivers lost signal when when a bird flew over the house (exageration but thats what it seemed like). When we moved to the new house and tried to hook Directv up - it was continuous problems. It took me 3 weeks to finally get it installed (and about 5 hours total worth of conversations with Directv )- with out of pocket costs of $150 - even though it was supposed to be free. per directv, technically we werent paying Directv - all that was free, what we were paying for was a contractor to come out and hook it up - who also broke off 2 shingles on the house and messed up 3 ceiling panels in the basement. We also went down to 4 regular receivers - the contractor took the 5th one that we no longer needed, however, he didnt turn it in to Directv so I still have to pay a $5.99 charge for it every single month. (that was a 1.5 hour conversation that I didnt even come close to winning with Directv - at the end of a one year period, I'm supposed to get a credit and they will stop billing for it- highly doubtful but I have all conversations documented so I will fight tooth and nail on that one). We still lose signal all the time on the regular receivers and now sometimes on the HD receiver. I also have the protection insurance for the remotes (if something happens to one, they send me another one for free) - it took me almost 3 months and 6 phone calls to get a new remote for one that just quit working. Thankfully we finally got it! My hubby has the football package so as soon as that's done (next month) we are leaving Directv and moving on to ANYTHING else. ps - the only reason we stayed with them after the move was for the football package. Hubby will have to find someone elses house to go to next football season!!

After 10 years, my husband has disconnected the Direct Tv (he had it before we got together)
They raised the bill DOUBLE this month.
We went to comcast today. Without the discount we got for a year, it is still less for us to change.
So hard, not to facepalm some people

I have Direct tv and hate it. I know I agreed for 2 yr contract but they say 3. What does it cost to break the contract? I want to go back to cable. And the cost? They lied about that and I discovered I was paying $200 a month. After talking to them, I got that down to $150 but I still want off of it.

Call your cable company and ask them if they will credit you the amount of the termination fee if you switch back to cable. I know that Brighthouse has been advertising that in the Orlando area for a few months. I know when we switched our office phones to their business solutions package they gave us the credit for the termination fees from Embarq. The worst they can say is no.
As for Directv and the other satellite companies - I will keep my cable. Hate the bill but LOVE the customer service and knock on wood it is hardly every down - I think 1 time in the past 2 years. My next door neighbors have been through Directv and Dish and have switched back to Brighthouse. At least when it sprinkles or a cloud is overhead you still get your cable service.
I do not have their internet service thought since it sucks. I have dsl through AT&T who by the way will drive you insane wanting to sign you up for U-Verse - not going there either. Keep phone & dsl with phone company and let the cable company do tv stuff not vice versa.

it has to be one heck of a storm for me to loose my signal.. i've lost mine once during a tornado, and then last year with the snow, but as soon as i cleared the snow from the dish it was fine....

Like I want to be up on a 2nd story roof brushing snow away from my dish. I hate the price of comcast but at least it rarely went out.
