A pet peeve!!!
Okay I am sick of this schit! Some of you might disagree with me, but its MY opinion!! I was at the store the other day and as usual this town where several illegals live the lady had about seven 12 packs of POP and used Food STAMPS to pay for it!!!!! I wish they would make a law already (which our state, some of the reps. are trying to push for this) where they can't use them for pop/soda when it does not give a person any nourishment!!!!!! I feel they should not be able to buy pop or junk food with food stamps!! Its getting plain crazy what people are spending the money on!! I know I don't have the right to say what people can buy, however when the goverment IS
giving them free money I think there needs to be some limits on this crap!!

I guess they were the ones to supply the pop for Christmas this year.
It would be great if you could use it on household products, such as toiletries, washing soap and stuff....

Here I go again being the odd ball... I never pay attention to what people buy or how people pay for their groceries. For the simple reason, I do not give a damn...The older I get the less I care about many things. What people do/buy/marry/live their lives has always been on the list of not giving a damn.
I hope you aren't one of those rude people that say things to people because you do not agree with what they are buying & how they are buying it. Cause if you are one, don't be surprised one day when someone reaches out and knocks you on your butt. I'm not saying that you do, just saying.
Don't worry about what people think. They don't do it very often.

I'm just going to correct/clarify your statement....the government isn't giving them "free" money, they are giving them "your" money....tax dollars.

Under the circumstances where you earn your money and support yourself, no one has the right to tell anyone how to spend your money, however, when they are spending your money (tax dollars) I don't necessarily agree with not having an opinion nor say in the matter. Don't want to hear comments, etc....spend your money, not mine.

Sometimes I wonder when I see all the junk food some of them buy, if they have other money to buy real groceries or if thats all they eat every month. My nephew and his wife would buy so much junk they wouldn't get enough groceries to last the month. They'd run out of food before the month was up and then they'd ask their mom and sister for money or for food. If they would have shopped better it would have lasted them all month. And my sister had less money to live on than they did.

I had a friend who did that. She would buy 30 tv dinners (or 31, depending on the month) for her daughter's dinner and then would fill up her trunk with cases of dr. pepper. I never understood it, if you need help with providing food for yourself and your family, fine, but soda is not food, it's a beverage and it doesn't provide any nourishment. A can of soda is not going to keep your belly from growling or help a child grow.
I don't really pay attention to what others are buying but I do understand the OP's thoughts. I had a cashier ask me if I ever bought food lol I don't get food stamps, but on the belt was a bunch of gatorade, some 12 packs of sierra mist, ginger ale, and those little cans of soda but not a bit of food and apparently she thought that's all I lived on. lol She was shocked when I explained that that's everything we need for the month for my kids (daughter has dr.'s order to drink gatorade every day, drink some soda when she develops her headaches, and son drinks the sierra mist or ginger ale when his stomach issues are bothering him).

Just curious.....how do you know they are ''illegals?' If you're positive....then report them.
Other than that,
I don't see any problem with it. Perhaps they actually DO work, and use the drinks in their lunches?
It's a beverage......you can't deny someone something to drink no matter what it is. (alcohol, I can understand). Not everyone drinks milk.

I don't care what type of comments "you do not want to hear." You have no right to tell anyone what they can or cannot buy. Most people do not pay enough federal taxes in a year to feed a dog. How is it YOUR right to tell someone what they cannot eat? Did you know a very small (I do mean small) percentage paid in for taxes goes to toward public assistance.
Since "YOU" are paying for everyone on food stamps to eat. I suppose you also have the right to tell the Military how to run things because "YOU" are paying taxes.
Complaining because someone is eating or drinking soda pop cause "YOU PAID FOR IT" is a bit pathetic. Just be glad they aren't starving, but then again, I suppose most who actually believe they are paying for every single person receiving food stamps would rather them starve, at least the government officials can buy themselves more pops.
I'd rather deal with illegals - they aren't nosy.

It's not pathetic to require someone who is receiving food stamps to use it only on nutritious food. People were giving their babies soda in bottles (young babies) because it had more calories than milk and was cheaper. That's just one instance/aspect. There are many uneducated people out there. Why should a person who is working possibly 2 or more jobs, budgeting, scrimping, etc. to support themselves have to pay taxes and see others using those funds frivolously? That's not fair. I don't think anyone here would deny a hungry person a nutritious meal, but would you give a hungry or starving child soda for breakfast? Food stamps are for the basics, soda is not a "basic". "Basics" should be nutritious, not "party food/junk food".
Military, etc., yes, as long as I am paying taxes or am a citizen in a democratic government, I do have a say in how my government operates and what guidelines should be set. It's called voting. Voicing my opinions on how my government conducts itself is my right. Sticking your head in the sand or looking the other way about what your government is doing and where funds are going is not a very bright thing to do.

I really don't think anything, at this point, will be done if illegals are reported. Many law officials know exactly who are the illegals and do nothing, per their orders.
Look at Auntie Zetiuno (whatever her name is - Obama's Aunt) - she was ordered deported for many years and many times over - she's a proud American Citizen now on public assistance.
