I donate to Salvation Army and shop there sometimes too! I have no idea if my town has a Freecycle and right now I don't need to know. My needs are met. I mean there are things I want but my needs are met...warmth, clothing, food, etc. I'm grateful.

I think those folks need to learn gratitude instead of demanding that people give them what they want....as if they're owed. I have an acquaintance whom I used to help but because she began to expect it and wasn't really interested in me unless she had a 'need' for me, I pretty much cut myself off from her. That's what happens. No one likes to feel used and folks like the ones mentioned sound like users! I would give to someone else way before I would give to them!

I mod for our local freecycle and I have to say those posts would never make it to our board -- we are strict -- Freecycle is not a charity, it's a recycling organization, we do not allow any kind of stories why you need something and only allow 1 want post for 1 item per day (no lists of items) and it can't be repeated in a 30 day period

People are funny! I don't understand why some people honestly believe they are entitled to things just because they exist.

I have never bothered with those types of sites. I donate everything to VA.
Don't worry about what people think. They don't do it very often.

I have helped a couple of people this year with small things. Neither person asked nor did they make demands on what I could give them. My DH works 2 jobs and I work 2 sometimes 3 part-time jobs and I still can not buy crazy expensive items for my kids. That is the problem with some people now they think they are entitled.

It would take me GREAT restraint not to reply to those posts! lol
The first one got herself in her own mess with being pregnant and having a loser boyfriend. She can get a job. Fast food places are almost always hiring. Then she can buy all the items a second hand store and afford diapers.

The second one should learn to shop at ebay or a salvation army. I am told you can sometimes find new items there, or take on a second job. Again fast food places are usually hiring then she can afford all those items for herself. Or she will just have to let those poorl little girls get used items. Maybe she can learn to make items for them. JMHO

I am also a moderator for our local Freecycle and if a post came through like that they would be on moderated status every time after that.
All our new members are on moderated status until they have posted for awhile due to spammers.

oh wow, I cannot believe people would be so rude like that. The whole 'the girls aren't picky' thing is kind of funny since she's asking for very specific items. By the way, size 4 is usually in the misses section, not juniors (I believe juniors are odd numbered sizes).

On our Freecycle, it used to be fairly lax but then we got new moderators and they are extremely strict, so much so that I don't even bother with it anymore because every other day they send out emails reminding everyone of each and ever rule. I don't need that many emails lol They definitely don't let people post stuff like that. You're allowed to ask but only after you've given, no sob stories, no giving out your personal contact info in the post, no rudeness, etc.

Don't get knocked up by a bum, problem solved. The chances of my calling someone to come judge if my free stuff is good enough for them or not? Somewhere south of none.

I'm a Moderator for my local group. I rejected a post the other day that said something like...I'm a single mom with no money, no job, no car and nothing for child for Christmas. I only want free stuff and people to bring it to me.

News flash! Christmas comes once a year and on the same day every time. That leaves 351 days to get ready.

I forgot the best part....she wanted everything already wrapped because she didn't want to spend time doing it herself.

Friends are like butt cheeks. Sometimes crap separates them, but they always come back together.
