Regardless, we all understand that you were doing a nice thing for this guy. And, most of us also think it would have been nice for him to offer to pay for the ticket. But your original question was who was responsible for the ticket. And...to that question...my answer remains the same.

However...I glad to hear that your husband convinced him that he should pay for it.
i have to apologize to everyone, that has read this post, cause i didn't put in all of the facts in this in the begining. i was mad when i started this post.

That is a good thing that he is getting help!

Whatever the reason for parking anywhere, it is the driver's responsibility for any ticket. What if you had gotten a ticket for speeding? Would you expect your "friend" to pay for that? And if this person is in such bad shape they are out begging for help with their rent, how can they afford a ticket? You said they made more money than you do? It must not be too much if they were able to get help and are now going to be able to move into an income based housing. Just saying.....

I take my sister downtown to the doctor's all the time and the parking is terrible. There are plenty of places I could park and run the risk of a ticket or getting towed, but I drop her off at the door and then go park farther down the street. Took my hubby downtown and we didn't even have the money for a meter...I meter "hopped" while I was waiting for him.

I hate when someone insulates me without asking first. I hear ya sister. LOL

I don't know why, but that comment right there just irked the hell out of me. Would you not have helped him and saved his life if you had known 5 years later that he would not pay a parking ticket you got? After all, he was not the one parking the car.....you were.

You need to claim responsability for your own actions. Sure, it sucks to get a ticket, but it's not like you didn't know there was a risk at this particular place.

the word was suppose to be insulted, not insulated. i don't worry about what my parents would have thought of me, Even though the both taught me well, they are both dead. i would still save his life today, Even if he got me a million parking and traffic tickets. life sucks, but sometimes stuff happens, and when it does you just have to take care of it to the best of your ability.

Sounds like you have more problems than just your ticket. I don't understand how you got the same ticket twice...I understand it was in 2 separate trips, but didnt' you see that coming?
    You could protest it.

Okay...haven't we beaten this horse enough. I think Valena gets it. Most of us think she is responsible for the ticket...(although I do like the one poster who said she would have made this loser of a 'friend' get out of the car and walk home...LOL).
Never argue with an idiot. It will bring you down to his level and he’ll win because of experience.

I see both sides of this one. He could help pay for this ticket. But if you were there for him. HE shoud have been giving you money to pay for the meter! But if you had parked there before you knew that you had gotten a ticket there once. So I would split the ticket price. IMO
And when asking for advice people seem like to harsh at times. Don't get me wrong there are some good souls here, I just don't and never have seen why some have always wanted to be in your face about it. But bear in mind for the future no matter what the topic there will always some who disagree, it just the nature of the beast.......

agree with alot of your comments, cause i was starting to feel like brunt roadkill. UPDATE: He has decided he don't want to pay the ticket, not even half. so, my DH Sweetie is going to pay it. and Sweetie wonders why i can't stand that mans trouble making behind.
