I am sure your husband was not aware of how he sounded when he was writing that note, he was grieving and trying to make himself feel better. I would show him the note and make him apologize though, it was very cold and hurtful.
I'm sorry about your baby, what a crappy thing to go through at Christmas time.

Oh hon don't feel bad. My kitty had to be put to sleep last year. We took him to the vet many times and he still didn't get any better and it was sad to see him waste away. We were out a lot of money so it was probably best your furbaby just passed quickly and didn't linger.
You gave him years he wouldn't have had and did the best you could.

I am so sorry for your loss. It is hard when a family member, even one with fur and four legs, is gone. I'm sure your husband didn't mean it to be hurtful, sometimes men don't think about how things come across when they say the words... or in this case wrote them. He is clearly feeling the loss; guilty and sad as well.

I'm sorry your baby died, but please, dont feel guilty. You saved him from an even worse situation when your family rescued him, you had 4.5 wonderful years with him and I'm sure he loved every minute of it just as much as you did. ((hugs)) He will be waiting for you on the Rainbow Bridge
