Oh, Boy! Where Do I Start?
I am a libertarian. As such, I LOVE my country but HATE "the" government.
One problem with the government is the money, time and lives we waste fighting this idiotic "Drug War." As an adult I do not need a "nanny government" telling me what I may do with my own body. I have used every recreational drug under the sun at least once and have neither harmed myself nor anyone else. Further, our "Drug War" has caused too many deaths both here and abroad and resulted in a per capita incarceration rate greater than any other developed country.
With regards to "Checkbook Diplomacy," which is what our foreign aid actually is. We don't really have allies, per se. What we have are countries who will "suck up for the buck." These people only want to "hang with Good-Time Charley, who always buys the drinks." They will love us only as long as those checks keep a-commin'.
Re terrorism: A man named Chalaby conned Bush into thinking Iran had weapons of mass destruction because Chalaby wanted us to kill Saddam so that Chalaby could take over the country. OOPS, didn't work. But Chalaby got a nice government position anyway. The reason we are supposed to be in Afghanistan is to kill Bin Laden. Is he still with us? Does anyone care at this point?
As far as the economy, jobs, etc. are concerned I HOPE things will get better; I FEAR that they wont. Think about it: What do you want, and what do you want done for you? We are a consumer-driven economy. Anyone want to go splurging?
