    Angry Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Okay, this vent/whine is brought to you by the letters F and U!

I know that I should grateful that I have a job, I just got hired about 3 weeks ago...and it's a fast food gig. That should be enough explanation right there. LMAO!

But being I'm the F.N.G. (Effin' New Girl), my hours are ****. I didn't go into this thinking I'd get 40 hours a week, but I DID tell the hiring manager, the GM and 2 of the night shift managers I'd need about 25 hours a week. How well do you think that's working out? I'm averaging around 15 to 20. Okay fine, I realize there are others there before me and they hired a few after me. But I DID specifically tell them - ALL OF THEM - that I am ONLY 2nd shift. There is no way in Hell I am getting up and working at 5 or 6 in the morning. Hubby works 2nd shift and we go to bed late. Seriously late or early depending on your point of view... as in 3 or 4 AM.

Well today, on one of my many days off this week, my night manager calls me and I don't answer...thinking that he wants me to come in for a few hours...haven't been feeling great the last few days. But I get this VM saying that I need to go to the other store in town and do cleaning at 7:30 AM. UH HELL NO. So I call back and tell him that I can't do that... and he says "WHY? You claim you want all these hours and I get them for you and you won't do it?!" and I said "I've been sick the last two days, I'm glad I've been off the last two days, I have an earache bad and I just can't do it. But I will be in at my scheduled time tomorrow ( 2 PM to 7 PM)." and he says "Yeah okay, whatever..." and hung up on me. Yeah, you rawk. *sigh* So I am pretty sure either A. He will call me and tell me not to come in tomorrow or B. When I get there I will be his *****...and he'll have me doing ridiculous things then he'll get pissed and send me home early due to "job labor" being too high.
Well he can do either one... I don't care. I can always go back on unemployment if he fires me, which technically HE can't because I didn't refuse a scheduled shift. And I have been applying at other places on my time off... because while I love the people and most of my customers are cool... I'd quite frankly rather do a desk job.

Just so frustrating at the moment...

Maybe he has a shred of good intent in all this. Though what he is offering you is not ideal, at least he is trying to get you hours. He is being thoughtless in what he is offering though. Maybe take some of the less desirable shifts so that eventually he may offer you your preferred hours in the near future.
We had us, we had him, now we have everything.

Can you collect unemployment if you are fired especially when you refused a shift?

    Good luck!

She has not been there long enough for her to draw from that employer. It would go back to previous employer. If she is fired she can collect. You would be surprised how hard it is to block someone from getting unemployment. We had someone stealing money from our company and fired them and they still got their unemployment.

Don't get me started on unemployment. We had a guy that missed 56 days in 11 months and still got unemployment. He even called in drunk twice. Yeah, I've got a bunch of stories like that.

    Red face

Anniston: I can see your point on this. And I truly believe I was last on his list of people to call, so when I told him no, it just pissed him off more. However I am the only one who WILL and DOES come in when no one else will. I'm just don't do mornings.

As for the whole unemployment thing... I can promise you I'm not ever going to call in drunk. As much as I dislike the job at the moment, I need the money so I don't want to call out at all. The shift wasn't on the schedule...it was one of those "oh by the way" things...
But unemployment can be fought and fought hard... many years ago my Mom worked for the city and they fired her over B.S. (basically felt like she was a whistle blower and were rightfully scared of the repercussions) so they fought her tooth and nail. She ultimately had to hire an attorney and went to court twice over it... she won in the end.

So we'll see how today goes...

That was my point exactly it might take a while but 99.99% of the time the former employee wins.

Cabby I have had them call in drunk, stoned or my personal favorite. " I went home with some chick from the bar last night and I don't know where my company truck is". I was actually laughing at this one since the stupid guy would go to a bar right by my house. When I saw the truck there I went in the bar and saw he was drunk as a skunk. I then went to the office and got the other set of keys for the truck and took it back to the office and locked it in the warehouse. It was really funny when he showed up later that afternoon and wanted me to report the truck was stolen from his house. I couldn't stop myself and the other guys at the shop from laughing. I asked for the truck keys and handed him his termination form. Oh then I handed the keys to one of the guys and told him to get it out of the warehouse. He actually wanted to call the cops on me for "steeling" his truck. Umm No who do you think drove me over there to pick up the truck - oh yeah the owner of the company. And yes he did get unemployment and we fought it tooth and nail.

Unless we really hate the guy we don't even bother fighting it anymore. What's the point?

Although I do love you story, not sure even my bunch of drunk welders can top that one.

Well, I did a survey at work and I talked to 2 night managers and several co-workers who have been there a while... apparently I did the right thing. Crystal one of my night managers says that he is always this way, throws a temper tantrum when someone won't come in for him. I've been told by another manager that he has his favorites and that if you're in, he'll let you do whatever you want. Apparently he hangs up on anyone who upsets him.

But all my co workers seem to really like me and we've kinda become a united front and we work together well.
However there is this one girl who, God bless her, if she doesn't stay out of my way I'll move her. She's a kiss ass and she's always trying to over ride what I do. I am hoping they send her to the new store... she's young and overly motivated. It's kinda like you hand her a broom or mop and away she goes.
So not a bad day today... and thankfully off tomorrow so I hope he calms himself down by Friday.
