Stupid Toys R Us
I am so upset.Toys r us had their kid games on sale for $3.99.I really wanted to get Candyland or Cootie for my son and put it away for him til hes old enough.I really have a feeling they might not be that cheap again.Anyway when I got there the shelves were bare.I asked the lady at the CS desk if they give rainchecks and she said no.How can you have stuff so cheap but dont have enough to keep the shelves stocked?I know its not the end of the world but I was really looking forward to getting him one.

Those board games go on sale all the time, I'm sure you will find them again.

I totally agree! I drove over 30 minutes to my closest store and the shelves were bare. Why they would advertise like that and not replenish the stock beyond the first day is ridiculous. Yes, they go on sale all the time but not the deal like this. I also dont understand why they cant give the 10.00 gift card with the sale online knowing that all the stores sold out on day one.
Oh well, guess I will be looking for other deals this Christmas

Yea, I've seen that too. They also come out with new versions of the old games so by the time your son is old enough, they might have a version of something he really likes.

I never really thought of false advertising in this way, but ds is taking an economics class in school this year and he said they told him that it is false advertising if a store advertises something then doesn't have enough stock for a big rush of people wanting the item.

It's not false advertising if they did indeed have the game in store shelves. There was probably a small disclaimer that said 'stock is limited & no rainchecks". Not having enough is not false advertising.
False advertising is when they advertise the game when none are instock & then try to seel you a different procudt that is of less value for the same price. Bait & switch is when you go into a store & the Candyland board game is not in stock & they then try to sell you the more expensive video game version.
Advertising & marketing are part of my job & I had to take classes on what you are allowed & not allowed to do.

They get you in the store to buy the board games and when you see they are sold out they are wanting you to buy a more expensive one or something else. Stores around here do this all the time. And most of the time while people are already in the store they buy something else.

I was fortunate I went the first day of the sale and was able to the games I wanted. But they were getting down to nothing on some of the games the first day of sale.
