Prices are going up everywhere, and items are getting much smaller,i think the companys are making them smaller ,so we have to buy more-they say itscheaper to package smaller items, therefore they pass the savings on to us,funny thing is it goes up and not down-i also shop aldi's,as i get much more for my money-what most people dont understand is that no-name products, like best choice, always save, national,or any other no-name product,is the knock-off products for the name brand foods-so really you are getting the same thing, but not paying for the name
you can add your own spices and butter or, sugar, mustard ,ketchup, just about any spice and the cheaper foods taste just as good(some on occasion dont)but for the most part, they are basically the same products- or from the same factory-same batch-same box-same farm.

I only notice the farm name since we do work for most all of the farms in the Southeast.
I don't know about other stores but most of the time I don't get to use the tomstoes I buy at Walmart. They go bad in two or three days. I get the ones that are firm and need to ripen too but they still go bad before I can use them and at 2.00 a pound I can't afford to have them do that.

    Wink

I don't know about the wal mart in your areas but here they have the 3 tomatoes in a little plastic container for a buck. Yeah they are hot house tomatoes an don't have much flavor and are green but if you let them ripen in a window they are better and last a long time. As for pork being cheaper yeah everyone thinks they will get swine flu so pork is dirt cheap. I am stocking the holy crap up on pork now and when beef and chicken drop soon because of the lack of demand I will stock up on those.

I guess I didn't even think about the Swine flu thing, but you are right.... Crazy idiots! My freezer is full of pork right now. I'm going to start a chicken rumor about the flu so I can get something besides pork.

As for most of the stuff yall talk about... I'm with yall (well, most of you)... but for milk, hell, I think yall are quite lucky. I pay more for a half gallon than most of you do for a whole. This lactose intolerance thing is for the birds.

As for the produce... news flash... this is obviously based on location. I have yet to find a package of strawberries that didn't have atleast a couple moldy ones in it. Honestly, the only produce we would ever consider buying from walmart is their grapes and that's only if we happen to be there when we see them being stocked and can check over all the bags. I did a google search and I can only find one webpage w/ any information about where walmart gets it's produce... imagine my surprise when only one w/ any kind of answer came up and it was on the walmart page... where they claim to only buy local.
