I'm a little scared
This coming Tuesday, I'm having my thyroid out. I have a goiter and its growing into my chest, so they want to take it out now before it gets too big. I will be laid up for 2-3 weeks and there will be a lot of discomfort. I am scared because I will now be on medication all my life. Yes, I'm on psycotropic medication which I have to take, but this is scaring me. I'm scared that I will lose my insurance. My job and my husband's job are secure (well secure enough for these times) but still I worry. I also worry that they will have to cut open part of my chest to get all the goiter. It's grown behind my clavicle. So keep me in your thoughts, thanks

I'll pray that everything goes good for you. Its scary having surgery but I believe it will be ok. But I also understand your nervousness about it.

You got my prayers (((Barb))). I would tell you not to worry but that isn't going to help. I would be scared too.
You have a lot of people praying for you, I had you put on the prayer list at "Hotshot's" church so you have a group of wonderful people that are praying for you and your surgeon. And as always, you are in my nightly conversations with the "Big Guy". I just know that everything will be fine.
Edited to add: Milk it dry Barb while you can. Get that Yoel to wait on you hand and foot. There isn't anything funnier to see a hubby carrying a tray of food to a wife relaxing in the bed.

I feel for you Barb. My sil had her thyroid out years ago and from what I recall it was VERY painful for her. She was laid up for quite awhile. Just think you will be up and better in no time. And have them give you some good meds. lol

I will keep you in my prayers and meditate for you. It is normal to be scared. Any surgery is scary. But you need to think of what will it be like for you to do nothing and it continues to grow. As far as the meds go, I am sure the manufacturer will assist which such meds. Good luck and write soon and tell us how wonderful it went.
