I'm 34 and I'm still scared of my Mom. 
If I'd of ever called her a bad name or sworn at her I'd of been knocked into the next county. She was not afraid of using the switch on me when I misbehaved and like others, I remember what I did and how I was punished so I've never done those things again. If I said anything to her even today she'd beat me down... LOL

Usually when a child acts out it is for attention. I am glad things are better, you are doing the right thing!
