    Unhappy Just so heartsick

    http://www.ohio.com/news/57504227.html

The above is an article on friends of ours who 13 yr old son passed away. Our whole community has just been sick over this. We all want to make it better and there is nothing that anyone can do to make this better.

Thursday I am going and donating blood in his memory. A local bar is hosting a fund raiser and poker run (they had no life insurance for him), we are donating some things to the auction. I have a sympathy card for the family. Can anyone think of anything else we can do?

I sit and cry every day because I want to help them and there is nothing that anyone can do. I am so sad for them and feel so helpless.

Please whatever you do (pray, light candles, send vibes, etc, etc) please do it for the Spencer family.

    Thanks for reading,
    Hollie

That is really sad. I feel for the grandmother too. You want to get the transplant you need but not that way. She must be devastated. Maybe she can take comfort in knowing that in one way a part of him will always be with her and will live on. I don't know what you can do for them. Just be there if they need someone to talk too or someone to cry with. You sound like a good friend. It really is sad he was way too young to die.

Let them know that you're there for them, maybe offer to help with something like yard work or something that needs to be done but isn't high on their list of priorities right now.

It is never easy when anyone dies, especially when it is that of a child. How amazing that his organs are going to save a family member.

How sad, my thoughts are with you and the family. Perhaps a few casserolles, food items might be appreciated.

So sad for a life to be cut so short. I'm praying for them and you. I think taking food is a good idea too. On top of their grief they will be going back and forth to the Cleveland Clinic with the grandmother having a transplant. I'm surprised I didn't hear about this on my local news. You are only a few hours away from me. I'm really sorry to hear about it.

Gas cards would help out if they are traveling back and forth.

Thank you all for the prayers, thoughts and suggestions.

There is a local club that is doing a Poker Run and silent auction to raise money for the family. My husband and I have been hitting our town and the surrounding towns to get fliers put up and asking people to donate things to the auction. (If you are in NE Ohio and know anyone who rides motorcycles and you think they might be interested in attending the poker run, please pm me and I will give you the info).

The memorial is Sunday. I have to be honest, I am nervous about it. I haven't seen either of his parents since before this happened though my husband has talked to his father a couple of times a day or two ago. I don't know what to say and I don't want to start crying in front of them.

I don't suggestions to offer that haven't been said except maybe if they have younger children you could offer to sit for them.I have sent up prayers for them. This is just so sad I could cry and I wouldn't worry if you cry at the service as this will just reinforce to them that you care.May God Bless this family.I think it will be a blessing though that his death can save his Grandmothers life.
    GOD BLESS AMERICA
