    Stolen debit card numbers....UGH

Got a call (Thank GOD) from my bank...Chase...saying that my debit card number was stolen and being used at a location 110 miles from my house. Glad they caught it.
So, I called the grocery store it was used at (Dominicks) and they infact have on video the people using the card and said "What do you want us to do about this, Chase will pay us so we don't prosecute!" WTF!! Noone checked their ID, they just let them swipe the stupid homemade card! UNBELIEVABLE!

So, I am thinking of persuing this. I think it is a crime that the grocery store will not do anything b/c they still get their $$ from chase. Who is scamming who?

Makes me sick to my stomach. YES, my fees will be reimbursed, YES they will be watching this and the account was frozen etc...but STILL....

    What is wrong with people.

Sorry that happened to you. There are alot of crooked people out in the world. The area I am in no checks IDs or checks the signature on the card to the signature you just signed on the slip.

Ours got stollen too a couple years back and all they did was ask hubby to sign some papers saying it was ok for the bank to pursue it... which, they never did cause we're pretty sure we know who did it and they never even questioned him.

That's ridiculous. I love how the ppl holding their debit/credit cards get raised interest rates, etc to pay for this crap when they should be going after the scum who stole it in the first place. I would pursue as well. What is wrong w/ ppl?!?! It is NOT ok to steal and letting scum who do walk away scott free is just going to worsen the problem. Why stop if nothing ever happens?

I would call the main office for this store and DEMAND they prosecute, a crime was committed.

you can file charges against the store for not checking and useing the debit card , since the bank caught it themselves , the store probley knows the thieves . if the bank notified you then they told the store and if the store went ahead with the sale they are considered to be assessories by fact.

Where I work VISA sent us a memo stating that we are not to ask for id for credit transactions. I think this is dumb considering no customer has to sign a reciept unless their transaction is over $25, which is rare. I always write see id on my cards and when I went into a Borders store they card everyone, at least that's what the cashier told me.
