    Wishing the pain would stop

I've hurt my foot again somehow.

I hurt it about 5 years ago for the first time and every since then it has been real easy to hurt again. I broke a little bone in the top of my foot but at the time the Dr said it wasnt worth doing surgery on it. I also pulled the ligaments in my ankle. Well every since then all I have to do is just step the wrong way and it will start hurting again. I'll have to go to the Dr and he will give me something for inflammation and tell me to wear my brace.

This time I woke up and couldnt hardly move my big toe. I get sharp pains when I have to put pressure on it. I couldnt get in to see the Dr until tomorrow of course. It's been hurting for about 3 days. Now the pain is running up my leg. I just wish it would stop.

He is right, you need a brace on it. The only way it will heal is to stay off of it. I know that that is impossible unless you take to the bed, so you really need a brace of some sort. You don't want to have lasting damage to your foot. Whenever your body is in big time pain it is trying to tell you something. Listen to it.

I'm hoping you're seeing either a podiatrist or an orthopedist for that foot. A family doc doesn't know a whole lot about foot problems. In fact, my doc won't ever deal with it. (I'm on disability for my feet and have had so many surgeries......too many.)

I hope you feel better soon!!

Because of our insurance I have to see my family Dr first. Hubby and I talked tonight and he thinks I just need to go tomorrow and let him look at it. Get the meds to help with inflammation. While there get him to refer me to a podiatrist. I have just been seeing my family Dr but we are thinking its time to see someone else.

Please... for your own sake, do NOT let your doctor refer you to a podiatrist. Beyond taking care of the toe nails I would not wish a podiatrist on anyone. Please make them refer you to the ortho. Podiatrists, I found out AFTER I let one do surgery on me, aren't even technically doctors. I was warned of this myself and didn't listen and have subsequently found out that he did an absolutely horrible job and I will have to have surgery again to correct it.... Please see the ortho instead.

Thank you I didnt know that. Our family Dr takes real good care of us. I'm gonna ask him who he would go to and then do some reasearch myself of course.
