I think our family would qualify for benefits -- but I really don't like the hoops you have to jump through (you have to give them access to your bank account, you can not have internet or cable tv installed in your home, etc) nor do I like the "looks" that I have gotten in the past for using food stamps.

It's too embarassing -- so it's easier to live without or to make do.

that's a new one, maybe it has changed but years ago when I was going through my divorce I got on food stamps for me and my kids untill I got back on my feet and they never asked if I had internet. They do have access to your bank account(s), savings account, pretty much everything. I don't know, maybe if you tell them you don't have a bank account??? Wouldn't want to risk that though, cause they do have your social # and drivers # and can look you up any time.

You know, I've been wondering for the longest time. If we as citizens have to take drug tests to get MOST jobs these days, why don't the ones on food stamps and or welfare having to submitt to the same drug tests? I think it would cut down on ALOT of the cheating.

yeah, maybe, and also make them pay for it to show that they really mean business and need the assistance.

But then again, I know people who smoke.... and are perfect functional people with great jobs and are good citizens, then again, I know people who smoke and are total bumtards.
