new "service" charges are rediculous
trying to reduce bills and mail, I cancelled my at&t long distance on my landline - it was only $2/month but taxes and sevices charges were an additional $3.50/month and I have been doing all my long distance on my wireless. Service charge to cancel it was $9.85.
Then I finally got notification my 401k is available for rollover -(gee, what took so long? I was laid off in July.) and the charge to terminate my 401k (or what is left of it) account is $50. never had that happen before.

Wow! But, from here on out, things will be cheaper, right?

1) Watch your landline bill - when I had AT&T as my carrier and didn't use their service I got charged $ 8.95 per month for making no calls. If you don't list a long distance carrier sometimes they will charge you more for putting a long distance block on your line. If you need to list one that will not charge you - First Communications - we use them at our office and I use them at work - no charges unless you make a long distance call.
2) The $ 50.00 charge is standard on processing a roll over out of a 401k account. I only know because I have had to answer this question about 20 times in the last 6 months.
