I just got back from a Dr's appt for a refill of my Skelaxin. I wanted to try the Lyrica but my Dr thinks I would more prone to many of the side effects, so she hasn't put me on it yet.

As far as diagnosing it, I was sent to several specialist 1st, including a neurologist and a rheumatologist.

Could I ask how fibromyalgia is diagnosed? I've had moderate to severe pain in my upper left quadrant for 2 1/2 years that doctors have yet to find a diagnosis for (I've gotten, "It is possibly costocondritis" to "It's all in your head"), and I've had too many test to care any more. I'm learning to live with it.

Does your pain worsen if you lift anything moderately heavy?
I had seen 2 rheumatologists, a neurologist, 3 doctors had 4 mris 2 mras some electrical test (eeg?) and I cannot count how many ER visits. and they all told me there is nothing wrong. So my family doc diagnosed me with fm

My pain does get worse with heavy lifting, but with me it's mostly the weather that messes with my fm.

I know people with fibro and it's no laughing matter. My stepmom is on two different meds daily that help her a bit. I hope they find something for you to feel better or at least a little better.

The lyrica made her legs swell really bad and they darkened up to the knee. It was really weird for her anyway.

I am on amitriptyline at night.. klonopin for muscle and anxiety. Migraine strength excedrine helps me a lot believe it or not, and if the pain is unbearable I have percoset.

My doc is great. I am just having a pity party for myself b/c it's fm and I know it is and it's chronic and it just sucks..

I want to say I also saw a RA dr and a Neurologist and my family dr who all dianoised me with it. It was my RA dr who gave me the first one after many test and I went in one day after working 3rd shift and it was the end of my work week and I was so sore. I was very lucky and not one thought it was in my head.

Nancyjean I could get disablity the doctor has offered it to me but I think for my mentality it would be worse for me sitting at home in pain. Elle I hope you feel better *hugs* I take the flexerill at night and it eases it up and the only other thing is the dr told me to *slow down*
