We are taking more trips this year than we ever have. I went back to work full time 2 years ago, paid off our bills (including our house and cars) so we have more expendable income than ever before. We're naturally frugal people so we are able to improve our lifestyle even thpugh times are harder. We have paid our dues through the years so we can be where we are now.

And we are planning on doing some stuff too, that is not the best financial decision for us right now, but we are going to do it anyway, my niece is getting married and we are going to be there.
What I am getting at is some people who and maybe not even on here persay, I am referring more IRL where I am seeing people going on big trips 4 and 5 times a year, I just am wondering "what am I doing wrong?" lol!!
So please don't think I am shunning anyone who goes, I was just wondering what everyone else around the globe was noticing. And saving is hard also, scouring the internet for deals, coupons, etc. I know how much time that takes. I have much more time to do it when I am off work (summers) but not as much time Sept-June. lol
I dont think it's anything you are doing wrong. Some people just don't care and are letting bills go. Some may have pre-paid for these trips prior to things going bad. One thing too, their ability to take all these trips may depend on the websites they go to get rates for rental cars, hotels, etc.

We haven't been on a vacation in yrs, we haven't been gone for a weekend in years. If we didn't have to pay for medical we would be ok, last yr was a total of 10,000!

We put a couple hundred away each month for our vacation. We take one 3-4 week vacation a year, maybe a cruise or Disney. We also use Priceline for some nice hotel rooms up in Vermont for $30 or so a night to get away for a weekend once a month. The economy isn't hurting everyone. It makes a huge difference if you know how to book your own vacations cheaply. I always find ways to get really cheap airfare, hotels and rental cars.
