I agree-- so what if it was the Red Cross. One of the diabetes groups called my house at 8:00 a.m. while I was running around like an idiot trying to get my kids ready for school. And they wanted me to do the thing where you mail out requests for donations to your friends. I completely lost it. I almost screamed-- Don't ever call my house at this time of day again. What is wrong with you???
And my husband is diabetic-- I don't care that it was the diabetes association. That's a sure fire way of NOT getting anything from me.

The weirdest thing happened to me. I cut my finger really bad and was running it in cold water. Yep there was Red Cross calling on my answering machine. I felt like saying come and get it. lol

I gave a flip answer to this but there does need to be some way to handle these calls. I would love to give to all the causes but I can't afford to. If you ever give to one, they pass your name around and you have them all calling. Until this year I tried to give just a little bit. But then they started out asking for like $40. Well, wow, I can't do it. So I started giving them all $15 when they called. I think that was the smallest amount. The last time I had a caller who argued with me when I said I would give $5. I know that isn't much but it was all I could afford to give. After that call I told my husband no more. I do feel so sorry for the people calling. I know some of the fireman and policeman probably have no choice but when I don't have it and try to politely say no and they just won't take no for an answer it really gets to me. So as horrible as it is, I have started hanging up on them. And I hate that. I think the next time I need a policeman or fireman they won't come. I know that is rediculous but I do hate to be rude but it is rude for them to continue after I have said no.

I have talked to my fire dept and police dept. and they say it is an association that gives very little of their funds to either one. I even had a policeman tell me he would'nt give to them. So it's really false advertising to say they are calling for them.
