Poor lost doggie
Yesterday my chihuahua cornered some sort of tiny animal in our back yard. Much to our surprise, it was a little yorkie. She was wet and very scared. We brought her in the house and asked around te neighborhood, but no one knows who she belongs to. She is so afraid that she flinches if one of us moves. She will not come any closer than about 4 feet away from any of us. When we get her into a place where we can pick her up she doesn't growl or snap, but she tenses up and flinches like we are hitting her every time we touch her. I feel so bad for this little dog, I suspect she may have been abused. We would like to keep her but I think it will be a long time before she trusts us. She is eating and drinking okay, has a typical yorkie haircut, has a little collar but no tags. Any hints toward earnig her trust would be appreciated. She wouldn't even take a piece of steak from us, we had to toss it to her.

Just give the baby space and it will come to you. Our male yorkie spent the first 7 months of his life in a cage and was used to everytime he got picked up he was put back in the cage. It just took him a few days to realize that we picked him up to love him and he didn't have to go in a cage. Now the little beggard won't stay off our laps.

How many groomers do you have in the area? Snap a picture of her, have it developed and take it to your local groomers. Yorkies won't make it far, and they are naturally high strung dogs, maybe it was embarrassed that your chi kicked its bum. No seriously tho, try moving slow, no sudden movements. Lots of food and water, treats and toys that are just for her. It takes time, and effort, but she will come around. It wont happen overnight

Awwwwww, thank god YOU found her !
Just time and love... she'll learn to trust you. She may have been abused, or, she may have an internal injury, that causes her pain/discomfort when she's touched. Can you imagine her fear... being tiny and all alone... not knowing who to trust... bless her heart.
Like I said at first, thank god someone like you found her. Bless your heart too.

awwww ty for bringing her in,poor little baby, she is spooked, lost alone,in an area maybe she doesnt know,so very sad. Id say she has been abused in 1 way or the other,it will take time, with in a week Id say you will see some difference. Toys or stuffies just for her use,a nice blankie for comfort, lots hugs and kisses will bring her a long way, also, from my own past helping strays, seems weird---if possible, where ever she sleeps try to make it so you are really close, maybe make a pallet on the floor near where she will be sleeping and bed down for the night, try this for a few days, you might find her cuddling to you. One on one attn. will show her she will be loved for who she is. Good luck, and god bless your kind soul!

Good idea, most groomers can recognize their dogs. I have been out at Petco or PetSmart and seen one of my dogs...didn't recognize the owner, but I did the dogs.

Another suggestion, if you post her/him as found, don't put the breed or a description. Leave it up to anyone that inquires to give you a description, otherwise you will have 50 million people claiming as their own.

awww poor little doggy, you can always send her my way, I would love another yorkie *hint hint tngirl* j/k! but seriously give her time and she will come around... if she was being abused though I don't know if it's such a good idea to find her owners, I surely hope that was not the case and she's just scared of you.

Aww... Scared little baby. So thankful that she is in a happy safe home.
