I cant understand why people with med probs(shoulder/back problems) take a job that involve lifting
Why would someone who has back problems or shoulder problems take a job that requires lifting or physical labor.
Say if you have had surgery on your shoulders then why work somewhere where you would be required to lift stuff in order to do your job.
If you are taking a job that requires this then you complain & not come in to work why not change jobs? Why not find one that doesn't require physical labor?

You know, a woman I used to work with had 99 different kinds of medical problems(seriously, it was ALOT). She had been told that she was so bad that she would get SS Disability with NO problem. She chose instead to work TWO jobs. At times she hurt so badly she hd to take a day or two off from work, but then she came back and worked some more. Sometimes, a person would rather work than take anything from the government/state.
The last time I saw her, she was in a motorized wheelchair. She had recently had a stroke and was going to physical therapy 4 days a week TRYING to get back to work, but wasnt hopeful.

I don't know but ask hubby as he wanted to.
Part of the problem is, employers don't care - hubby is under NO physical restrictions frm his dr but his back goes out about every 18 months. He has a herniated disc.
Me too, I have back problems but since I have no dr to say I can't do anything employers will kindly expect everything, heck far my last employer kindly thought i was lying when I told them I was pregnant & then asked me why I didn't bring in a dr excuse stating I couldn't lift.
UHM cus 1) I told you at the interview I had a bad back - you said OK
and 2) you never asked for one. dip stick.
He was the-opposite-of-God who owned a place I refer to as the-opposite-of -heaven.
Not good memories there.

speaking personally for myself i have applied for other jobs and NO luck.
I have not worked for over 3 yrs. But with gas and everything going up so high we can no longer afford for me not to. We talked about trying for me to get on Ss but anymore that (around here) is impossible to get on. Plus with my job record we would not get much. Its like 780 per month.
My "adopted" brother. Gone but not forgotten. 8/23/09

I am in bad health, I have a bad back, diabetes etc. However, I need to eat, so I will do anything LEGALLY work wise to pay my bills and fill my perscriptions ((I am one of the uninsured)). I am not sick enough to be disabled, but not well enough to do everything I wish that I was able to do

I can answer this.......it's because my insurance is great, the pay is great, and I work with a great bunch of people who are very understanding. Plus, I trained in a secretarial field eons ago. My skills are sorely lacking now as a secretary. And I meet more people in my field (retail)

I also have back problems and diabetes. I would do just about anything to make sure my kids have food and a roof over their heads.

well i have no problems and i don't have a job that requires physical exertion, but hopefully i'll be working full time as a medic soon.... I SO HATE DISPATCHING AT THIS PLACE.

To pay the bills. My DH has a multitude of health problems but he goes in and does a demanding job. He could not find a job making anywhere near what he does now. There are nights that he is in so much pain that he can't sleep. He has 16 years to go until he can retire.
