Happy Belated Birthday. I bet if your DH's next birthday is forgotten he would know exactly how you felt on yours. Anyway I am sorry your special day didn't go your way.

Sorry your birthday wasn't a happier one. Remember you're still young. Maybe have something special planned for yourself next year ahead of time in case someone forgets again.

My hubby does that to me. He totally ignored Mother's Day, is usually late for my birthday (or shows up with the typical bag of convenience store junk) and I never have anything to open for Christmas. However, when he does do something, he does it big. This year I went away for a few days after Christmas. When I got back I had a fireplace in my living room, right where I'd always wanted one. I try to take to good and forget the bad, but it twinges every now and again.

I feel your pain hon. ON April 21st i turnded 35 and every year it gets less noticed. Its sad. I have always kind of wanted a surprise party i KNOW it will never happen however. my brother did call and my husband told my Happy birthday. But that's about it. Granted i will say we are the kind of people if we want something we save up and go buy it. So we are hard to buy for. But my mom didn't call. My dh felt bad and the next day got me a cake. When i made an off handed comment my mom used to make me a cake. But it seems like everyone thinks just because you get older you should not be treated "specail" on your birthday.
Well Happy birthday from me to you. Pretend i sent you a card!!
My "adopted" brother. Gone but not forgotten. 8/23/09

Since Sunday Aggie's been trying to make up for my birthday to no avail. He baked a cake today....his favorite pineapple upside down cake...I won't touch it, never have, never will. Can't stand pineapples. He's bought some red, white and blue balloons (leftovers from Memorial Day)that do say Happy Birthday. It's not getting better....it's getting worse.
Discussion today was about my birthday again. When it falls. He knows damn good and well some years it does fall on the actual holiday. I will remember the people that gave their lives for our freedom on that day.....however, I will also celebrate my day.
I'm not sure he even knows Memorial Day is on May 30th. every year. It's just recognized on the 4th Monday in May.....like Labor Day is the first Monday in Sept. Always falls on a different date.
I'm hoping the rest of May will fly by. I also got my arse chewed for going to the cematary to visit my mother and put down flowers. "Why didn't you ask me to go?". He has a fricking car, knows where she's at, can go when he wants to as well. I got more chewed out about the expense of the flowers.....they came out of my own pocket. I have my own personal checking acct. I didn't use ours.
So, Happy Birthday to me....the saga continues. Thanks everyone for the wishes. Really doesn't bother me that they're late. At least ya'll are kind enough to take the time to read my thread.

Happy Belated Birthday!!!
Next time...do not do anything for his birthday. When he asks why, tell him that because of how he treated you on your birthday that you have come to the realization that birthdays are not important to him. Therefore, you are no longer going through the effort.
And stick to it! One of two things will happen. Either he will realize that birthdays are important to you and will remember in the future...or, he will continue to forget. But at least you won't feel put out because you won't feel like you are the only one doing anything about birthdays.
HUGS!!!
Never argue with an idiot. It will bring you down to his level and he’ll win because of experience.

Kelsey,
Aggie has the same birthday as you do. It's kind of hard to forget....lol. Hopefully it MIGHT be easy to forget this year. What goes around, comes around and it bites when it does.

On his birthday, go buy 50 little balloons to put at the cemetary. If it's so important to him to honor others, it should work for his birthday, too.
Sorry your day was spoiled. I made my family never celebrate mine again. Just because I'm old, and can do without the reminder. lol
