Youngest has a middle ear infection

Her ear started draining yesterday, it was nasty looking. I cleaned it up a little and asked her if it hurt at all. She said no. Well this morning it is 100 times worse. Her whole ear canal and out onto the outside of the ear is covered in this nasty stuff. We took her up to the urgent care, her dr is closed on weekends. and it took dr a while to clean it up enough to see into ear. But she still couldnt tell if she has a hole in her ear drum, which is what she thinks it is.

Tori had a little fever, they gave her something for it and a prescription for ear drops. 4 drops 2 times a day for a week.

I just can not believe that it didn't hurt her at all. The dr gave her a certificate for being so brave. I feel so guilty cause I am her mommy and I am supposed to know when something isn't right.

    Hope she feels better soon.

Our youngest finally stopped having ear infections. She seemed to have them all the time. She is 10 yrs old now.

((((ttistin))))please don't feel guilty, my little girl used to have them and sometimes there isn't any symptom but stuffyness in the ear and pressure, it does sounds like it ruptured though. My girl ended up having to have tubes put in when she was about a yr. and a half, she had so many.

Yes, you shouldn't feel bad. I had to have my tonsils removed when I was younger due to constant ear infections or I was going to go deaf. I got so used to the pain that even when it was REAL bad, it was almost normal for me.

If you're apprehensive about antibiotics or tubes in the ears, talk to your local chiropractor. ***** had three double ear infections from November to March. My chriopractor set her up with twice per week appointments and after the very first appointment, her ear started to drain (it was disgusting and very smelly) and she had no further pain. Her ear canal was so inflammed and swollen that you could not see inside her ear. It's been six weeks now and she's going once per week. There is no sign of the ear infection, either.

get some Garlic Oil (you can find them in capsule form at most grocery stores), and drain 2 capsules into the ear canal 2x a day.

garlic is a natural antibiotic and will help heal an infection.

Most middle ear infections don't hurt as much as they itch...but they will affect equalibrium firstly.

The dr should have put her on an antibiotic -- like cipro or amox.
Sans the Cipro, all other antibiotics will cause a yeast infection, so make sure your child is taking Acidophilus tablets or eating PLAIN yogurt in mass. Cipro on the other hand, does NOT cause a yeast infection but because it destroys both good and bad stuff in your system can weaken the immune system opening you up to a host of other problems...so take Cipro carefully and for the full course of treatment.

I know how your daughter feels, as an adult, I still have middle ear infections...I am just passing on "things I have learned along the way".
2 days from now, tomorrow will be yesterday.

Dr gave her antibiotic ear drops and I got to take her to an ent next week to see what he says. Hopefully it isn't something that wont heal on its own with help from drops of course.
