yet more....
back to the ER yesterday morning. The pain in my back go to be so horrid I couldn't control myself and bust into tears at work. My leg is numb, there is muscle weakness, and I can barely walk around my living room. I did go to the doc on Tuesday and had xrays---said he couldn't see anything but scheduled a CT scan and an MRI tomorrow morning. In the meantime, I had to work. Yeah like that was gonna happen. I can't bend over. So at the ER, all they did was make me comfy. I had a shot of toridol, a shot of morphine, two valiums, and a percocet. Woooooooooo can we say lalalalala land? And today, it's just as bad as it was yesterday. I hurt damnit!

i'm so sorry they can't figure out exactly whats causing your pain... i hate when they just give you pain meds, i know you needed them, but i'd much rather they find out the problem instead of masking it with meds.
its what they did with my gall bladder for almost 10 years, before ended up having emergency surgery to have it removed. but i know that was nothing compared to what you're going through.. you'll stay in my prayers

Sending prayers and good vibes that the MRI and CAT scan help them find what is wrong so they can fix you. I feel your pain, I have been there and I know it sucks! (((((HUGS)))))

My thoughts go to you. I have been through this for a while now. Don't you wish there was someway the docs could just "feel" the pain your feel for a little while. I had back surgery in November in which thely put a metal implant in my back. My leg still kept hurting. They said it'd hurt for about a year. Now, they think that my leg, back and arm problems could be coming from my neck!! They put 6 shots in my neck last week and it seems to be helping. I don't want to bore everyone by being repeative. If you want to know what all I've been through, pm me and I will give ya details. Might help ya out to know what to expect or what to ask the docs to look for

Any chance you can go to another doctor?
In the meantime I'll say a prayer for you.
Just keep on telling the doctors how much it hurts. Be insistent.
Many years ago I didn't feel well for months and months, Kept going to doctors and they kind of shrugged it all off. I woke up one night a went to an er and luckily got a doc who was persistent. He said if I had waited 2 hours I would have been dead.
It's such a pain to have to b*tch so much but sometimes it's all you can do.
Good luck.
We're praying for you (and the doctor).

sometimes I don't think they believe me....it's so frustrating. Everythng has been going so well, and BAM! here comes the pain again. I am back home again, worked 4 hours and called nurse access. They called my doc, he says put ice on it, put my back brace back on (just got rid of that uncomfortable thing) and take my percocet. Said the ER couldn't do much more. I had the MRI and CT done, don't know the results, probably sometime next week. Pray hard people.....I hate this. Luvs y'all though!

I truly hope you find what's wrong. When Aggie and I married I had horrible back problems from a car accident several years before. I kept being told "It's in your head"....NO, IT WASN'T. If it wasn't for Aggie persisting that drs. listen to me I never would of found out what the problem was. 5 years and I can't tell you how many "specialists" later. Problem isn't completely gone but it's better than it was and I have a clear diagnosis.
Good luck I hope the MRI will show something.....

I hope you are going to a neuro surgeon and not an orthopedist. My husband had the same problem , had one surgery, still had pain, had more test until the neuro surgeon found it and he had another surgery. Yes he believed he was having pain. Yes in the ER they do always suspect back pain may not be real because that is what drug seekers use as an excuse to get pain med because so often it can't be found. They gave you a pretty good load of med. Good for them.

OP Doctors these days can really be frustrating as it seems there is no devotion to "solve and cure" like there used to be...in my experiences it seems to me when you walk out of the office, you are forgotten..but hang in there and keep pushing. hopefully they'll find something on these test results you are waiting on.

What did they find out was wrong, Mary Jo?
I went thru something similar several years ago. Didnt feel well at all, went to dr., she shrugged it off...I continued to be sick for a few months, went back probably 6 or 7 times and they sent me to a couple ortho's, saying it was my back (i know I have a bad back, but no way could my symptoms be from that & the orthos agreed) I finally went in and raised hell saying I was tired of paying these prices and getting shoved out the door w/no answers and insisted they finally run some sort of tests as NONE had been done except for back x-ray.Now, get this....Dr. asked ME what tests I wanted done so I said at least an US of my abdomen, upper & lower. Can you believe that? Well when they did these tests, they found a large tumor on my kidney. 3 days later I was under the knife of an awesome specialist, it was cancer and had I kept going along with them, I would be dead. The spec. told me I was very lucky as usually kidney cancer is not detected til it is too late.I learned a valuable lesson we all need & that is to listen to your body, you know your body better than any dr., and it will communicate w/you if you pay attention...and take an active part in your own healthcare. its important. I think the biggest thing that pisses me off is even tho I proved to them it wasnt "all in my head", I feel whenever I go in to the clinic, they treat me like Im a hypochondriac. But.....maybe that's all in my head lol
wow, sorry I droned on so long, got caught up into it all over again, I guess.
One Big Ass Mistake, America!
