even if i was a true biking enthusiast I would be shopping around... you are most likely paying more for the name than the quality of the bike. I know bikes can get pricey if you want a really good one, but I'd have to pass on that one and if I had kids they would just have to live w/o it

We were bike shopping for me and we couldn't believe how hard it is to find a decent priced bike that wasn't a piece of crap. We bought a $98 bike from Wal*Mart and before I even got to ride it the front tire went flat, so that wasn't a good sign. Took that bike back and went bike shopping. We saw some that were $4000.00. I'm like who in the heck would pay that much for a bike. I guess people who do a lot of races would, but I didn't want to spend more than $100. Well, we finally found one at Cabela's of all places and it was $150 for a Schwinn, so that wasn't too bad.

My husband has a bike he bought about 10 years ago. & back then it cost$800. It's also made of carbon fiber-makes it very light weight. I certainly wouldn't spend that much on a kid's bike!
