Awww, I sowwy Tasha that you lost your baby.
As for the rude comments, I agree with the others, that was just down
right mean and rude. How is having your pet outside playing with the kids
being an irresponsable pet owner? I'm leaving this thread before I
say something that will get me in trouble .......

I went and told hubby about your cat and he gives his sympathy he also said that hitting an animal and leaving the scene is a crime. I looked it up and will add, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hit_and_run_(vehicular)
In many jurisdictions, hitting an animal and leaving the scene of the accident without stopping is equivalent to cruelty to animals.[2][3] Depending on the jurisdiction, sentences range from $200–$20,000 fines to imprisonment. [4]
No love, no friendship can cross the path of our destiny without leaving some mark on it forever.

He manages to run into our yard and go into the bushes. He died
within a minute, if that.
My hubby and Chris is outside buring him now.
I've had many pets in my life and some have gotten killed and some have ran away but this has bothered me so bad. I've been crying my eyes out. So have my kids, the little ones. Harley took it really hard, he just cried and hugged me saying that Big was too young to die. Big was just over a year old. He was a sweet loving cat. Like another kid to me.
RIP Big

The first thing I want to say is, I am so sorry for your loss. And that you and the kids had to witness it. How terrible for your family. But, when you let your animals roam, you have to know you're risking their well being. Cats aren't like dogs. They cannot be contained in a yard. Yes, they like to lay in the sun and yes, they like to hunt bugs and things. But it's just not safe out there. The only thing I see the driver did wrong was not stop. And if you know who they are, if I were you, I would pursue that. And I think that's what jonette was getting at. Yeah, she was pretty blunt about it, but that's how some people are. And she is entitled to her opinion. When you post this stuff on a public forum, you're open to all kinds of responses. And some of them aren't what you want to hear. Believe me, I am not bashing you or blaming you. Sometimes things just happen. I know tons of people that let their cats roam outside. Probably more that do than don't. I'm not one of them. We also live on a road where people speed and I don't want to lose my pets. My cats are perfectly happy living inside. I'm lucky cause they don't even try to get out. But my daughter's cat does. And not because my dd lets her. You can look around before you open the door and not see the cat anywhere. As soon as you open the door, I'll be darned if the cat doesn't shoot out of it. And good luck catching her. You can't catch a cat that doesn't want to be caught. So even if you had gone across the street to retrieve your cat, it may still have run in the road. But that driver should have stopped and shame on them cause they didn't.
This is all just my opinion and again, I am not bashing you. And I really do feel your pain. I hope you can get through this. It's a grieving process like with any loss. Take care of yourself and I hope you feel better.
I am extraordinarily patient, provided I get my own way in the end.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't even imagine how horrible it must have been to see that happen. You and your family and Big are in my thoughts and prayers.
I like to think that there is a special place in hell for those who are cruel to animals. Hopefully karma will catch up to that heartless person in the SUV.
