Yep, I would tell them that, but maybe in a nicer way than you put it here. I would say, " I am very sorry your cat got ran over. I know you are sad but that is what happens when we don't take care of our pets. If we are going to let our pets outside we should make sure they are on a leash or in a fenced yard that they cannot get out of.

The house it was so rude to let it go to, is empty. It has been for over a year now. So I'm sure the mice and spiders that live inside of the empty house were offended "I let my cat go over there".

My cat ran outside the fence and ran across the street to the empty house. I did not LET him. My other neighbor, who lives beside of the empty house, walked over to him and was letting her little 3 yr old boy pet him. My cat got spooked when the vehicle came SPEEDING down the street and he tried to run back to us. He didn't make it. So don't be so damn rude when you don't even know the full story. I didn't just throw him outside and say... roam wherever you want and to hell with everyone else and their property.
First of all you never said in your original post that he "accidently" got out. You said you were sitting in your swing watching him at the house across the street. Now if my pet got out I would be up off my butt going to get it back. And of course you are going to say the person that hit them was speeding, that is what everyone says when they don't want to accept the blame for their own wrong doing.
ANYWAY.. thanks to all who offered hugs and nice words. I really appreciate it. Its been hard to deal with, especially after seeing it all happen. I didn't sleep well last night and my little kids are taking it hard. So the words and hugs mean alot right now.

Do you live here? Do you know me? No and No so just hush about it. You are being rude and its totally uncalled for. I came here looking for support because I was upset. Not to get kicked when I was down. So thanks for all of your sweet concern. Take your rude ass comments to someone elses thread as they are no longer needed in this one. And yes I know I posted on a public board and blah and blah but I don't give a rats ass. Like I said, I came here for some SUPPORT because I was sad and upset.

Feel free to drop by my street any day and watch the people SPEEDING up and down the streets of a neighborhood that is full of kids. Many of us have complained but nothing has been done. Speed limit is 25 but people do more like 40+.

Just because I happened to be sitting on my ass at the time I noticed my cat was across the street doesn't mean I continued to just sit there and not try to get him. I was just trying to give a general idea of the story. Not every single little detail about every movement that every single person made. No I didn't say that I got up and went toward him trying to get him but I also didn't say and I just sat there on my ass like I didn't have a care in the world either.

Anyway, I hope nothing ever happens to one of your pets and you are upset and someone talks to you like this.

Yes I let my cat outside to play in the yard with my kids and lay in the sun, something he loved doing. If that makes me a bad pet owner, so be it. I would rather see one out in a yard getting to enjoy himself than being locked up in a house 24/7. He loved it outside and my kids loved being outside with him.

Thank you all again for your support, I really appreciate it.

Tasha sorry about your cat. I know it is hard to loose a pet but to see it happen like you did is very hard. I had a kitten one time when I was about 14, it got out of the house and was sitting at the tire of the car. We didn't realize it and the driver left and killed the kitten. to you and your family.

That is rude, letting your animals into other peoples yard. I will throw things at any animal that is in my yard and if they don't leave, I have them picked up and taken to the shelter. These type of posts really burn my butt. You all cry and say how much you love your "furbabies" but if you did you would take care of them better and not let them run loose. You all say " oh they are part of the family, just like my kids" REALLY!? would you let your kids run the neighborhood like that, let them run in the street. If you love your animals, keep them in your yard or house where they cannot get run over or whatever.

You have every right to post your opinion here, (even if I think it was unkind and tacky) but then you shouldn't wonder why people get rude right back at you.

You say this is why you don't post much, because others are rude??? And that you'll "probably will go back to mostly "lurking" It goes both ways, post your opinion and others will post what they think of it.

Why jonette aren't you a bunch of sunshine and roses! I've been a member here for a long time and before I was a signed member I lurked for years and I must say that your comments tops the heartless list.

I have a cat that waits where you can't see it and rushes out the door as soon as it opens Have you tried to catch a cat that has no desire to be inside? Or am I supposed to be like Hetty and "not open" my door? Please get real, these things DO happen they're accidents. And I can see an accident happen but to hit an animal in a residental area and not stop, if you have a question of personal safety, most people have cell phones, call information and report it and wait until someone gets there.

My road is horrible people speed, parents have requested that a slow children at play sign be put up and the county will not do it, If my children broke the rules and left the "safe" area, I suppose it would be my fault if one of my kids were chasing a ball and they got mowed down??? I'm sure you will come on and tell me that it's not the same difference btw. a kid and animal, but no not in theory, it could have easily been a child K? And if the driver was going so fast they couldn't stop they wouldn't have been able to for a kid either, and God knows kids don't mind and they do things us parents don't want them to no matter how much or hard we watch them.

BTW Did you miss the day at school when they taught "If you can't say anything nice don't say any thing at all?"

I am sorry for you and your family's loss. It was an accident, you are not to blame and the person that hit your cat is to blame only as far as not stopping after;that is a very uncaring individual. That is only my opinion and I hope you don't take it the wrong way. Again I am sorry for your loss.
A dog is not almost human , I know of no greater insult to a canine than to describe it as such.

I grew up with having my cats hit by cars because we lived on a hiway and they were outside pets. I will never forget the pain of loosing all my cats though and dog. I am sorry you lost your pet. My cats are indoor cats and I don't want to think about loosing them
