I am upset with my post office/mailman!

I ordered stuff of ebay for Christmas. The auction ended on 11-17, it is a book. Will fit into the mailbox without a problem. I have bought books on ebay before.

We just moved so it should have been forwarded to me. I have been checking the confirmation number and it was sent from old post office to main post office and then supposed to be sent to my new post office for delivery. On confirmation number it says it was at the main post office on Dec 7 and on Dec 14 it says it was returned to sender because it was not claimed. I went the post office on tuesday to see if the internet was wrong and it was there. Then this? In no way shape or form was I informed the package was trying to be delivered.

I am not sure what is going on but it is going to get settled, I am not going to be wondering where my mail is or if I am going to get it.

I called and talk to someone at post office as soon as I seen it was returned to sender and told him what was going on from my end. He said he was going to look into it, talk to delivery person and see what was going on and call me back. I havent heard anything back.

Maybe they can't forward actual packages? Why didn't you have it shipped to your new address to begin with? They probably did leave a notice, but it hasn't had time to be forwarded to you yet. I'd be upset as well, but I also probably would be more careful buying stuff when you know you're in the middle of a move. Hopefully the seller will let you pay him the media rate to reship to your NEW address.

The p.o. sucks at forwarding. We have moved quite A few times, and there were always some of our items not forwarded.A lot of times it was something important like A check going to our old address. We have taken to filling out the form numerous times, and they still screw it up.

I wasn't positive of the new address when I won the auction so I couldn't give it to them. I did get a notice for the other package I won. I went down today and had to pay the extra shipping but that isn't a problem, I understand that. But the one that I am upset about was in the process of being forwarded to me, the p.o. or mailman never left me a notice to come and get it. They just returned to sender, after I had been there asking about it two days before they sent it back to sender.

I would be upset about that as well. There is no reason why they couldn't have left you a note or something.

Forwarding is automated now. In most cases, there is little that a carrier can do to intervene. If this item was forwarded to you as Media mail, it should have been notified as postage due at a 1st class rate. And that is only if forwarding service is requested in certain circumstances. Also, you should be notified twice. The final notice is delivered with the mail and is not filled out by your carrier. It is filled out by a clerk. There have been times where I was never given a second notice to deliver and items were returned without customers knowledge. Yes, I ended up taking the blame. If you order anything being sent media mail, make sure they have your current address.

I explained to the seller what happened and asked her to let me know how much shipping would be to send it to me again. It wasn't her fault and I don't expect her to pay for it to be shipped to me again.

I hope we don't move for a long time but if/when we do I am going to make sure I don't get into this mess again.

If it was sent as Media Mail there is a 50/50 chance they will forward it. If they do you have to pay for it. They can just return to sender - media mail is the only class that does not have to be forwarded.
