Thread: Getting really sick of this telemarketer!

Our number is registered in the National do not call registry. I have checked to make sure it is still actively listed. For some reason, I continue to get calls from the number 860-533-1738 every single day! They have actually called as many as four times a day for the last several months.

The first time they called, I answered and the man said he was from "The Pharmacy." I asked what pharmacy and he replied, "The Pharmacy." He wanted to know if I needed a refill on my pain medication. I asked him if he were crazy because I do not take any kind of prescription medication at all. He insisted that I did, so I became irate and told him not to call me again. I explained that I was on the National do not call registry and he replied, "well that's good, how's that working for you?" I got so mad, I screamed at him for being a jerk and then hung up.

For a while when they would call, I would pick up because I really wanted to give them a piece of my mind, but instead of saying anything, they were silent and all I heard was the sound of a call center in the background. Immediately, I would call the number back and get a recording saying that the number is disconnected or not in service at this time. How could that be? They had just called from that number.

I have researched the number on the web and see that there are MANY people having the same problem with them. I have called our phone company and asked about a call block, they only offer privacy director which is $6 or $7 a month and they say that they cannot guarantee that the number will not still ring through since it is a long distance number. What good would that do me and why should I have to pay any extra on my bill? These jerks should not be allowed to do this in the first place!

I have filed at least a dozen complaints about them on the do not call registry website. I have used call trace on my phone to log their calls when I am at home and can do so. This feature costs me $1.80 for each trace. But when I call the phone company to try and get them to do something about it, they say they can't, so why the heck am I paying them $1.80 per incident to log these calls if they can't even do anything with the log?!?

I am just about to lose my patience. I have no idea of how to go about making these people stop. I do not want to change my number as I have had it for a long time and it would be very difficult to reach everyone to let them know about us having a new number. It is becoming very difficult to just ignore the ringing phone when they call. Anyone have any suggestions? I really need some help.

Buttrfli, thanks for looking. I too found that info yesterday and I did call Mr Towson at home. He is very sweet sounding elderly man who told me he was getting calls from people all over the place about this issue. He sounded genuinely sincere and he apologized even though he said he didn't know how to help me. He even jokingly said that he wished he was involved with a pharmacy business because he could sure use a discount on his own prescriptions. After a lengthy 10-15 minute call, I hung up the phone believing him. Somehow, I think that he has become a victim in all of this as well.
