Its between 3.50 and 3.60 here depending on where you go. Its insane! I have to take my kids to their grandparents this weekend. Its 190 miles one way! I'm driving down, back home and then down again on Monday to pick them up. I'm gonna go broke just doing this trip! It use to take $25 to fill my car. Not anymore. Now its atleast double that. :(

Chicago burbs it is $3.69.9 and higher in the city. More than 70 cents a gallon is state and county taxes. I do not buy into the refinery thing either. If that were true then why are some not running or running at capacity. Oh yeah, so they can charge us more.

$3.49 here. Today I did some math. Lets say the average price for gas is $3.00 and you use 15 gallons a week = $45 a week X's that by 2 drivers and your total is just under $5,000 per year. Add in my car payment and insurance on all our cars and the privilege of driving cost us just under $10,000 PER YEAR. Kind of sickening.
It's $3.65 here too (N. Mich) which has totally ruined my plans to go see my family this weekend since they are 2 1/2 hrs away.
It's $3.67 in Mt Pleasant MI. It was $3.65 in Rosebush MI.
I'm in the Chicago burbs too. It's absurd what we pay. I saw cheaper gas in the heart of Manhattan, NY the other week when I was there!Quote:

I'm in west central Ohio and the prices jumped from 3.29 to 3.49 today. I don't know what they'll raise to on Thursday as this is the day they normally go up. I don't think any refineries have been built since the 1970's. I started driving in 1971 and gas cost under $.40 a gal. Then in the mid 70's we had the "energy crisis", and fuel prices climbed way over a dollar, if you could find it. Alot of the stations ran out of fuel. I know there are alot more people on the highways now then in 1977, (I live right off I- 75) so if the problem is supply and demand, and they havn't built any new refineries. Why aren't the gas stations running out of gas now. I think the posters that mentioned GREED are absolutly right. Also the poster that figured that it took about 10,000 dollars just to operate her car a year,should also add the costs of anything else, such as tires and oil that are petroleum based have gone up too, not even figuring all the things we buy that have to be transported by ship, rail, or truck. These companies raise prices so they can afford fuel to haul the products.Sorry this is so long and grim, but this just burns my butt, to see these oil companies get filthy rich off us poor people that don't really have a choice but pay their silly prices.
I am in Southern California in the desert area, Gas last week was $3.39 and it went down to my shock!!! Today, I saw it was down to $3.29, I was surprised because of Memorial weekend coming...
