Re: Have YOU ever been to jail??
Yes I went trying to protect my husband back when I was very young and dumb. I did 21 days and believe me it was a non violent crime too. After it was all said and done and the truth came out my charge was reversed to not guilty and everything cleared but I still did the time! Why shouldn't she when she KNEW she was doing wrong?
Be who you are and say what you feel, those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Re: Have YOU ever been to jail??
Paris Hilton and her family basically think that they are better then others. Did anyone hear how her mom acted in court? This is a quote from an article:
"This is pathetic and disgusting, a waste of taxpayer money with all this nonsense. This is a joke," Kathy Hilton said of the judge's decision.
I guess the mother also sarcastically clapped for the judge when he read the sentence.
Her daughter was driving drunk and could have killed someone. She then violated probation and got behind the wheel again. If it was Joe Schmoe he would have been doing time for driving while drunk in the first place!
Maybe this will smarten that girl up and make her realize that life is precious and should be handled with care! Maybe this will keep her from ending up like the very talented pitcher from the Cardinals that got behind the wheel drunk and then got dead.

Re: Have YOU ever been to jail??
Yep .. been there and hope to never go back, but would if it came to defending my kids.
And I think Paris got what she deserved .. it doesn't matter who you are, you break the law you pay for it.
They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them. Distance and time may separate us but friendship and memories won't.

Re: Have YOU ever been to jail??
I have been in jail for 2 days for domestic violence. I was defending myself from my ex husband who was twice my size who had me up against the wall by my throat w/ his forearm and I was trying to fight to breath. He called the law on me when I grabbed my wallet and keys and my babys. They arrested me because I had no marks on me but he had a small scratch on his neck where I had grabbed his shirt. They arrested me infront of my 7 and 4 year old ( ages at the time) , I had no shoes or socks and I demanded my wallet and checkbook though. The officer kept telling me that they were just doing their job. He came to my cell after they booked me and said it again, I told that man that If I had known I was going to be arrested for protecting myself I would have damn sure made it worth the while.
I dont know if 45 days is fair or not for Paris Hilton but I also dont like that they give stiffer sentences for some and not others trying to make an example out of them.

Re: Have YOU ever been to jail??
I have been to jail several times - and you know what ?? It was the darnest thing - every time I was there, I was the ONLY one who actually did what they were charged with - EVERYONE else was innocent, it was a mistake, and they didn't deserve it. Paris got what she deserved. She thumbed her nose at the law like she was better than everyone else. She will be kept alone, so she is in no danger. She violated her probation twice, and FAILED to sign up for court ordered classes. And, like the op's said, she could have killed someone. However, she won't do all her time - that girl from LOST was supposed to do 30 days, and they let her out after 4 hours due to "overcrowding".
Sometimes, the good you do doesn't do you any good.

Driving on a suspended license here in FL is automatic jail time and so is a DUI.
DWLS will not always get you put in jail in FL. In Orange County you go straight to jail but in Seminole County (county just north of Orange Co) you get a ticket and are told to appear in court. Seminole does this to "free up jail space". They have been doing that for years. And for a DUI you will be jailed at least 8 hours to sober up some even if someone posts bond for you - you still have to be in there 8 hours. And with a DUI your license is automatically suspended - and it is suspended automatically if you refuse a breathalizer test - you sign on your license that you will consent to DUI testing when you sign that license.
And Paris needs to do 45 days to realize that she is NOT above the law. And WHY is she famous anyway - she doesn't do anything other than look like a ding-a-ling and party?

Almost the same thing happened to me, I went to jail because my husband had a scratch too. Whatever, I was really scared of jail (having never been there) but it was not bad. I consider it a mini-vacation. Thermostatically controlled climate, three meals a day and all the books I wanted to read. I just read the three days I was there. I did not have to do one thing. It was nice. Not only that, they had three HUGE televisions in the common area (much nicer than mine) so people could watch TV in style. I would not be afraid to go back now. The one good thing to come out of this was I had to have a year of domestic violence counseling and it helped me see how manipulative my husband is. You would be surprised (I was) at all the women that end up in jail/counseling because of men.
BTW, I think Paris should go to jail. She will probably come out more popular than ever. Look at Martha.

Alachua and Duval counties send you to jail for driving on a suspended license, that's where I worked. Your license is supposed to be suspended if you refuse a breathalyzer; a city official in Duval Co. refused and he did not lose his license and the media was pretty quiet about it. I wonder why?!

That's what I did the 10 days for. My ex had me up against the wall with a pool cue across my neck choking me. I managed to get my knife out of pocket and stabbed him the chest. It was worth the 10 days I did.

With all the money they have maybe they can send the Hilton's a bill for Paris' stay
I think she deserves it. You know if any of us were driving on a suspended license we wouldn't have time before we were to report, we'd be taken there immediately. I'm sick of rich and famous people getting away with crap. They need to learn to follow the rules. I have never been to jail either, I abide by the rules. I cannot believe so many women here have for protecting their own lives, gotta love the justice system.
