The NY times is ONE of the MOST liberal and Biased news sources in the US why should we be surprised that they LIE to us. The WAR isnt the big failure that they portray it as and things are actually getting a LITTLE better so they HAVE to generate some negative sentiment to help all the folks that want to force an early withdrawal.

For some people shaming this administartion is FAR more important than things like the truth and security.

The bush administration has done MORE than enough to shame themselves what with illegal wire taps and this CRAP immigration bill that THANKFULLY got killed. But some people want NOTHING less than the destruction of the man.

Yep, the bloggers pointed out his bias. You can have a bias and be a news anchor saying you report the news fairly, yeah right, until it is pointed out as being so blatantly biased.

    read caption :

An elderly Iraqi woman shows two bullets which she says hit her house following an early coalition forces raid in the predominantly Shiite Baghdad suburb of Sadr City. At least 175 people were slaughtered on Tuesday and more than 200 wounded when four suicide truck bombs targeted people from an ancient religious sect in northern Iraq, officials said.(AFP/Wissam al-Okaili)

The only way those two bullets hit anything is if someone threw them or launched them from a slingshot. They’re still pristine, still in their shells. And whoever wrote the caption obviously doesn’t know enough about firearms to know that. Either that, or as the tipster who sent this to me says, they’re actively helping create negative media stories against the US.

Also - when one of the phrases used is “slaughtered” then you know it is a heavily-biased article. Slaughtered applies to animals being processed for food, or as a pejorative term to describe intense one-sided fighting e.g. the poor under equipped insurgent aka terrorist jihadis didn’t stand a chance facing the evil imperialist US military forces.

From the previous post, reader Hoefer remembers and tracks down something veddy intahrezting

Someone help me out with this. Wasn't there a similar picture about a month ago? Some old lady's bed catching a couple rounds?
The photographer is the same guy, Wissam al-Okaili.

Here are the two pics and it sure looks like the same lady, and the same idiotic claim. Heh.

Anyone know the photog or official agency and caption for this one? Something like "Lady finds bullets embedded in the wall of her peaceful home..."

That's a special weapon that leaves the casing attached to the round.

Must be the new and improved AKX-47 slingshot.

The poor woman probably thought she had found her lost earrings, a gift from Ahmadinejad, complete with firing pin impression on the casing.

    Paging Michael Goldfarb.

Hey Mike, we got another live one for you.

Actually this makes sense in a nasty sort of way. Most of the mainstream media have outsourced their reporting outside the Green Zone to local stringers. Problem is, those stringers often aren't what you'd call 'disinterested'.

This is especially true of the ones who go into places like Sadr City. How many Sunni stringers for AP or AFP or whatever do you think would go into Sadr City to cover this story? How many do you think would make it out alive?

Even someone who subscribed to the ideal of objective journalism would have a real short life expectancy.

This is one of the sources of the incredibly bad reporting which is coming out of the Middle East. Sometimes, the result is indistinguishable from outright parody.

    /\oo/\

Okay, picture #1 is obviously wrong...firing bullets with the shell casing on but the second picture is odd. I work for a commercial heat treater and we heat treat the bullet core for armor piercing .50 cal rounds. It's either 4140 or 1050 steel, carburized....REAL hard. That looks just like the core...without the jacket. Like the copper had been melted off for the money...

Interesting how Wissam is always around when Coalition forces "allegedly" bomb/attack/etc shi'ite civilians.

His photos are featured quite prominately on anti-coalition sites. In all fairness, he also includes photos of shi'ites suffering at the hands at suicide bombers, etc. However, the overall message seems to be look at all the shi'ites suffering, and its all due to coalition forces in Iraq. I really would not doubt that the photographer is purposely staging photos for propaganda purposes. Look at this photo:

    This is also interesting:

ok.. top Photo.. looks like a .223 and a 7.62N ?? maybe from an M240G or a heavy battle rifle.. I know some guys still tote the M21 system which carries that round.. ok, so she has a .223.. probablly the second most plentiful cartridge in Iraq after the 7.62X39 AK round.

hmm could the second round be a 5.56mm round from the AK74 rifles? just cant see enough. But the neck taper on the first looks very .223.. big deal.

Second photo.. that isnt either of the rounds shown in the top picture. Look at the necking.. that by god looks like a7.62X39 russian round, but all I can see is the thickness of the bullet and the necking down to the crimp.. odd.. that shap isnt in either of the top bullets.

and the last picture.. "something" looking like a steel or lead core.. no jacket. But AWFUL large for a rifle round core. Seen a core on a .223 or .308 without the jacket? there isnt much there, and it certainly isnt LONG like the round on her fingertip closest to the camera. Maybe a 12.7mm from a Ma Duece..or a KPV type weapon.. but those cores didn't come from any of the rounds in the first 2 pictures..

this just doesnt add up.. unfired rounds.. and then some fired remnants of something.. but the damn remnants are biggerthan the unfired cartridges!

bah.. I smell a rat.. hell, I am sure you can go sift up some spent rounds from anywhere that had a recent firefight, after the fact, it aint that hard.. sand tends to stop bullets without letting them go too deep..

She's got quite a little magazine going there. I'm disappointed with the photographer, though. They couldn't have come up with one child's shoe and a stuffed animal too?

    Dannyboy, listen.... hear it? Shhhh....

It's the sound of silence. It's the sound of suicide bombers not detonating themselves every week in Israel. It's the sound of innocent people not being obliterated in pizza shops.

We haven't heard much of that in the last four years. Why not? Because Saddam isn't paying them $25K to ride a load of C-4 to Allah. Ain't capitalism grand? If you don't subsidize it, it disappears! (I'll bet you hate that one too!)

For that alone, it was worth removing Saddam and his depraved offspring. Don't you think? What? You don't think? We knew that.

Wow. Woman in war zone finds bullets and spent casings around. I found a spent bullet on my bedroom floor one new year. Can I get my picture in the paper too?

    THIS is news?

Mmmmm yeah. Those bullets hit a building.....and I am 6' tall, slim and a super model.

The thing is, so many left wingers wouldn't know a spent shell from a pristine casing.
