Re: What do you do about a dear friend....

THANK YOU ALL for your pearls of wisdom. I am working on getting her to exercise and I DO THINK a therapist will help; she will be going tomorrow. As many of you have said, it is ALL up to her! All friends can be is supportive and encouraging...and I am trying!

    THANKS AGAIN!!!

I admire you for your friendship and support. Keep it up. You may be the link to her recovery. Don't give up...she needs your help!

Thru all the pain, aggravation, irritation....not to mention the hassles of going to pt it's truly comforting to know that someone is/will be supporting you thru your good times, bad times and I DON'T WANT TO DO THIS ANYMORE!!!!

You're truly a friend to this person. She may not realize it now but, will in the end. It's rough I know but the outcome is much better than if she does nothing.

Hang in there....you're in for a long haul. It's well worth it in the end for the final result.

Thanks for your kind words, hotwheelstx and abbynme! I don't think there is anything as wonderful as a good friend and Shannon and I have known each other almost all our lives. We are closer than family and I care deeply for her. SO, as most of us know, we do our best for the people we love and that is what I am trying my darndest to do here. The words you have posted here HELP ME and encourage me to continue to push Shannon. I KNOW I have to but it is NOT easy! THANKS AGAIN!!!

Re: What do you do about a dear friend....

I dont know if this will help. I barrowed a wheel chair from my church, and I would take my mom on walks thru the park and sometime have a pic-nic. At first she would walk, and lean on the wheel chair. Then sit in it as I pushed her, we started doing this in the malls and other places so that she could at least get out. We also started talking more. About life opnions, bring up something that will be food for thought. Buy her a book that you are reading or lend her one and discuss it. I also bought a wedged cushion for the chair so it would raise her knees a little higher and be more comfortable.
After we started doing this my Mom got better and improved because I was helping her with her @home excersie.
Hope this helps my thoughts and blessings are with you
