Duh...lol Sorry actually I do have the link.
The news people came and interviewed us because the Ymca was getting all the credit for saving Jaden when it was an 11 year old boy. His mother said she yelled 3 times for a lifeguard but she couldn't get their attention.
Here is the interview/story of what really happened.
http://ksn.com/news/stories/8202975.html
and this is the story that was in the paper before they knew that it was the boy that saved my son and not the lifeguard. The life guard did give him 4 pumps from one of those oxygen bag and he came to and threw up. They refused to give him cpr because the one lifeguard dropped her mouth piece in the water
Anways here is that little article
Y lifeguard rescues boy who stopped breathing
A YMCA lifeguard helped a little boy who was found not breathing in a pool on Thursday, police said.
The boy was found in the deep end of the pool at North Branch YMCA, 3330 N. Woodlawn, before 4 p.m., Wichita police Lt. Walker Andrews said.
The lifeguard started CPR on the boy, who was taken to a hospital in fair condition.
Police lauded the lifeguard for taking quick action.

He was in PICU for 24 hours. He couldn't breathe without the help of an oxygen mask and he was breathing too fast. Not to mention the water he had in his lungs....... He is on an antibiotic to help keep from getting pnumonia.
This happened Thursday. Today he is fine and back to normal like nothing happened. And he asked if he could go swimming yesterday lol
It was the most terrifying thing I have ever experienced in my life.

Oh I would be LIVID knowing they refused him CPR... whats the point of trying to save someones life if you aren't going to do it no matter what the risk? This was a child, not likely she would have caught anything.
I am so glad he is ok. I am also glad that you set things straight with the news about who REALLY saved him.

OMG, I didn't watch the news last night. I am in Hutch but lived in Wichita most of my life so I know the place you are talking about. scarey. With lots of kids in the pool I guess we can't trust just lifeguards but of course they will want everyone to think it's ok with the lifeguards. Thank God the other kid was there.

This makes no sense if they had a bag she wouldn't have needed her mask! But the reason she wouldn't do it without the mask is:
1. you ALWAYS use personal protection when doing CPR (plus you have no idea what illnesses SHE might have)
2. victims will usually throw up, as Jaden did...
Glad he is alright!! Any idea what happened??

Using CPR is life or death situation. I do not carry a mask or bag with me, but if I were ever in a sitaution where CPR was necessary, I would do it (and have) no matter what.
I would much rather a lifeguard do CPR on my child who was not breathing, without a mask, than not do it at all. JMHO
