Re: I Am So Angry!!!!!!
at the PD i used to work for, we would break a car window to get the baby out then take the baby to the station and call CPS(here its DHS), sometimes it would be an hr or more, and then they wouldn't be able to pull the "i was just in there a minute". used to make me so mad, we'd do it for pets that people would leave in their car too, then charge them with cruelty to animals when they came to claim the dog.

Those are the ones who you see crying on the news that someone kidnapped thier baby.I dont see sorry for them at all. They get what they deserve but I do feel sorry for the child.

Re: I Am So Angry!!!!!!
Seems like the family dog was more important than their baby!
You did the right thing by calling the Vet.
9-1-1 isn't a bad idea either.
Anybody could have kidnapped that baby in a heartbeat.

I agree. You did the right thing. Some people just aren't playing with a full deck when it comes to their children.

Re: I Am So Angry!!!!!!
Oh dear God, that's awful.
Many years ago, my family lived across the street from a baseball diamond. There was a game going on, and parked right out in front of our house was this van with a dog in it. No windows rolled down, crying. I called the police. The police came and told me (small town... dad was chief of police of that town at the time) he didn't want want to go over to find out whose dog this was. I had a FIT. I told him if he didn't want to do his job, he'd better take off that badge because he wasn't worthy of it. That's kind of one of our folklore thingies in the family now.
But the cop went and did his job. As the guy walked past our house to get his dog, he said to me, "You're beautiful lady. Just beautiful." I, of course, thanked him. Then he said, "You know... I just got it." I said, "What, the van or the dog?" No answer.
People never cease to amaze me.
Ooops... hijacked my own thread.

Stupid people don't deserve to be given the gifts that they have.
I got into a fight a few summers ago with a lady who left 3 of her small kids in her while while she was shopping in a pawn shop. She actaully told me it was none of my business that her 3 kids were in a car when it was 102 out and they were all starpped in car seats.

Re: I Am So Angry!!!!!!
My mother always had to keep an eye on me. We never stayed in a hot car. Of course, when I was five, I was allowed to walk about a quarter mile down the road to get the mail at the post office, but I always had my trained guard dog with me. Beautiful Boxer, named Duchess. Of course, the town we lived in was only about 300 people at the time, and everyone watched out for everyone else. Mom had to put her into another room just to spank me. 'Nother story, 'Nother time.

Linda you did a good thing! Regardless if the door was open or not that child shouldn't have been left in the vehicle alone. In Vegas they are looking to pass a law that says no child under the age of 7 can be left alone in a car for any length of time. I have to say that unless my child was like a teenager, I don't know that I would want to leave them in the car by themselves at all. Of course the doors would be locked, but still... Remember when we were kids and growing up and we got left in the car for a few mins while our parents paid for gas or something like that? (of course MY mom never left me in the car, it was my choice and it was NEVER the middle of summer) We are def. living in a different world than what we grew up in.

Re: I Am So Angry!!!!!!
I thought about that. I did. But I didn't want to have that poor baby have to wait to be taken out of the hot car (White Land Rover). So that's why I called the vet. Had he not come out within seconds, I would have. I watched the entire time. We live in an awfully small town. That baby would have died in the sun before anyone came to steal it.

I wonder what his wife/girlfriend would have said if she knew he left the baby in the car. Hopefully she's got more sense than he does!
