Do not trust Blockbuster
Hello all, just had to have a vent after all the trouble I've had with Blockbuster.com for their online rentals....I've sent multiple e-mails to them and so response! Not even an "I'm sorry, we'll correct this asap." If you rent online, this IS NOT the service to choose. Below is the recent e-mail I sent to them a week ago, with still no reply and on the phone customer service telling me they cannot help.
To whom it may concern,
This is my final e-mail to your company concerning damaged and bad functioning disks. I was under the impression that you were a reputable company and had a concern for your buyers needs. It appears I was mistaken. First problem was with Oz: The complete Second Season: Disk One. This arrived cracked and unable to play. I sent it back immediatly and also sent 2 e-mails concerning it and asking I recieve a diffent disk ASAP. Instead I have never gotten a response from you and you have never shipped me a new disk, only continued to ship random movies on my list, when I clearly stated I would rather recieve the disk I requested first. Recently I recieved The Shield: Season 2 Disk 1, which was very scratched and would not play in certain places...Not only is this poor business practicing but is a motive to push customers to a different place of business, i.e. your competition. I would take it into consideration that you should take more strict procedures on reviewing your disks to ensure quality and to meet the customer's needs when quality standards are not met. Since you haven't responded to any of my e-mails so far, I'm sure I won't be hearing from you on this one. It's sad to know that a company that I pay for a service cannot take the time or effort to suit their client's and what they are paying for.
So folks, just had to vent and please take this into consideration if you are a member or considering it.

I have no experiance with Blockbuster online rentals. But Nexflix is very good. My sister in law was with them and when she got a damaged DVD she marked the envelope and sent it back and they sent her another one. I have not heard anyone complain of Netflix. So if you want to do online rentals you might consider them. She dropped them because she was spending her weekends watching movies and not getting any thing done. She did say she would go back with them again if she decided to do online rentals again.
Sorry your having a hard time with Blockbuster online.

I have blockbuster and netflix and I love them both.. I only had a problem one time with blockbuster I got a broken DVD in the mail and I reported that is was damaged and wanted a replacement and never got one.. But other wise I like them both..

I have Blockbuster online, have received 1 disk that was cracked. I reported it thru the DVD issues form and I received a new disk even before I had the chance to pop the cracked one in the mail. Sorry you had problems!

Thanks for listening all.
I think I'm gonna try Netflix for awhile and see how that works out. I live in an area where the nearest video rental store is an hour and a half away sooo online rentals is the best I can do. I've heard good things about them so hopefully it'll work out.

We stopped going to Blockbuster JUST for that reason, went to rent movies several weekends in a row and ended up having to turn in HALF of the DVDs because they were scratched/damaged, this is a 30 minute drive from us ((what can I say we live in a small down and have little choice except driving an hour to spend $9 to see a movie in the theatre)) Stay away from blockbuster, PERIOD. That is my motto

I will use the local Blockbuster. It is closer to me than Hollywood Video. I haven't had any real problems with them. Twice they said I didn't hand a movie in when we had handed it in. I called them and they found the movies when they did there monthly movie check. And one time the guy forgot to take the thing out of the movie case of a DVD and I couldn't get the case open. I realized this on the way home so hubby turned around and took me back to the store.

I will NEVER again rent from Blockbuster. I got 3 DVD's in a row and THEY had the nerve to say I had ruined thier disks and they charged my creditcard a termination fee of 69.99 PLUS they charged a seperate replacement disk charge of 54.XX!!!! I fought them to gewt my money back and they refused so I finally had to go to my bank and get my money back that way. They send me a bill like every other week trying to get me to pay them this money. I had my lawyer send them a harrasment notice and haven't heard from them in like a month now......NEVER AGAIN....I won't even go to the local store that is like 20 minutes from me I will drive 45 minutes to rent movies if we want them. There is a woman on the base who is opening a new video rental place where she will drop them by your home or base housing within a certain distance or else she mails them. We plan on going through her.

Blockbuster has a reputation for not answering inquiries(even though they have a link in their website to do so. I sent an inquiry to them some months ago about ice cream that I had purchased at one of their stores(seems like when we opened it, it looked like it had previously melted and must've been refreezed.(Maybe a power outage///benefit of the doubt here.) On going back and viewing their ice-cream case all of their ice cream was in this sad state. (And they're not cheap there-JUST CHEAP WITH REPLYING.) I sent two inquiries to them, needless to say they didn't answer either of them(as they knew full well that these "pieces" shouldn't have been sold but should've been trashed. No wonder this outfit is always in trouble!!!!!

I will never rent from Blockbuster again. The first screw up occurred when I turned in a game on the due date and 3 weeks later, I received a notice from a collection agency saying that I owed money for the game! Blockbuster never even sent me a notice stating that they "supposedly" never received it. Well, I called and spoke with the store manager. Low and behold, they did have the game (imagine that
). Apparently, someone did not check it into their system. Well, that finally got cleared up. Then it happened AGAIN. Same thing, collection notice, blah blah. I spoke with the store manager again and, of course, they found it in their inventory. She offered me x amount of free rentals and I told her I had enough of that crap and wasn't renting anything from them again.
I'm sorry about your experience. I hope Netflix works out better for you.

I would advice you to call the store in your area and tell them the problem you are having. Get the name and number of the manager of the district you live in. he should be able to help you, or give the main phone number to the head office. Blockbuster is losing their business to Hollywood video, and netflix, because of all the problems their customers having with them. i called them about a problem with a disc, we had rented and asked to have the movie on tape, and the man told me that they are phasing out video tapes, and in the near future they would only be having compact disc's, i told him that is crazy.
