Re: Please help--son is sick
I say go to the ER too... they do a spinal tap to test for Meningitis and the drs office probably wasn't equipped for it (it's a very delicate procedure)... also, if there isn't an 'outbreak' of it, they don't really jump on it... so take him to the er and MAKE them test him for it.
Prayers to him and you!

Re: Please help--son is sick
Thank you so much for all the thoughts and prayers. Yesterday afternoon we began calling our pastor and former pastor asking for prayers. AND calling the insurance company, I was told to request a referral...which of course would take a few days at the minimum. I went in and talked to Jared, who woke up and seemed more alert. We got him up, for the first time in about 3 days and he went with us to pick his younger brother up from school. We are still keeping a very close watch on him, but for now the neck pain seems to have subsided. He is making a dramatic improvement..more alert than he has been in days, and no fever for the first time last night. Again, thank you all so very much for thoughts, prayers, and talking. For now, seems to be good, but at the first sign of him becoming "vacant" again, or feverish, ER is going to be our first stop and no more questions to doctors who "guess" what is wrong.

May God Bless your son!
I worry about him too, dear. That stiff neck is a concern. Keep pushing fluids (koolaid, o.j., warm tea, gatorade, etc.).
