    Uncle killed Aunt last night

Well my life is just getting better & better by the day.

I ignored the phone most of the day because of the B.S. that I had to deal with with the neighbors.

So around 3pm my mother called & asked where I had been & if I had talked to anyone from Florida (my dad , stepmom or my grandfathers girlfriend). I told her no & she told me to sit down she had something to tell me. Now I am thinking something happened to my dad or something. Mom proceeds to tell me that my Uncle shot & killed my aunt last night.

I almost fell over. Apparently my uncle was drinking very heavily & my aunt was goading him & they started to argue, my uncle pulled a gun & shot her dead !!! Now the worst part of it all is that one of my cousins , still have not found out for sure which one, was in the house when it happened. I have 5 cousins from them, 2 girls & 3 boys, all are older 31-19 except the youngest, he is 16. I just am still in shock.

I am not sure if I should go to the funeral because I don't want any fights starting between the families (my side & my aunts side) but at the same time, she was family.

Oh my gosh hon... I'm so sorry this happened. ((Hugs)) I hope you and your family can bond together in a time like this. It's so sad this is how your aunt had to lose her life. Your family is in my thoughts.

So stupid and foolish. The children have lost a mother, the father will go to jail and the youngest may end up in foster care if his siblings don't care. What a waste.

My thoughts are with your family...

Almost the exact thing happened to a couple we knew. The only difference was they were both drinking and got into a huge argument. He pulled a loaded shot gun on her, and she grabbed the barrell and when she did the gun went off and shot her point blank in the stomach (according to him, she was dead and couldn't tell her side of the story). He has never spent one day in jail over this, and they had no way of knowing if he was telling the truth or not. For all they really know he could have just shove it in her gut and pulled the trigger.

O.P. Sorry for your tragic loss.

I am so sorry for your loss. I think you should go to the funeral if that is what you want to do. If her family has a problem with it they will let you know and you can just offer them your heart felt sympathies and leave quietly then. Hugs to all!

How tragic. I will pray for your family. Hugs. If you want to go to the funeral then go. If you don't then don't. But whatever you do, do not allow the others to make the decision for you (meaning family members) for you not to go to keep out of arguments will only cause you guilt down the road. You are in a tough spot. God Bless you.
