Tasha, I feel your pain my A& B son brought me home a D in Science. Life is not real good for him at the moment. Nothing like getting a grade card and seeing all A's and then a D. I about died!

For whatever reason this year he has become very unorgnaized. He lost his Science binder somehow and lost of ton of points since he didn't have the binder. This is on top of forgetting he L.A. books in the classroom only to have them taken and his cell phone which thankfull was found by the principal that day, but not before i had to suspend service only to have it unsuspended 5 hours later! I pray he gets the organization thing back on track for the remainder of the year. Just bites that losing that binder dropped his grade so much. Guess he will just have to live a learn. But in the mean time he has been limited to an hour a day of TV, computer or video games. Up side is his room is really clean the past few days!

    Hang in there!

Thanks everyone. I kind of knew what was going to be on it because of the way he has been here lately but it still upsets me all the same. I have talked, preached, begged, pleaded, cried and so on to this child but nothing really seems to sink in. Hopefully he will come out of this soon. If not, I may be locked in a crazy house before long!

Of course he had to have a big fit when I told him that he was grounded for a while and that meant no tv, computer, games, phone and so on. He even had the nerve to ask why I was so upset and why he was grounded. Ugh!

I am right there with you. My son brought home all D's and F's last quarter. He has not been on the computer or game system since. Grounding him from everything had no effect. So then I decided to play toward his greedy side. I offered him money for his grades. Well I got his report card today and while there was a small bit of improvment it was not near what I expected or hoped. I am so disapointed. He is in 6th grade (middle school). When his older brother was in 6th grade he failed all of his classes too. So I home schooled him 7th and 8th grade and he is now in 9th grade (in high school) and getting all A's and B's. I really don't want to home school again. Well, we'll see how the rest of the year goes and then decide.

Sorry to hijack your thead. But I can understand your position. Wish I had some easy answers for us both.

maybe it's time to start sitting down with them after school and help them with the homework, to make sure that they are doing it and to make sure that they know the materials for tests. a parent teacher meeting might be in order to discuss ways that they can make you aware of what homework they assign.

I do sit down with him and make him do his homework..... when he brings everything home to get it done. We even have a phone number to call and see what the assignments are but he tries to lie out of it, swears he done it already or whatever and then ends up with zeros. He is driving me crazy!

My son did the same thing Tasha. We finally had to let him fail. It was a painful lesson for all of us, but we made it through.

    Re: Report Cards

My mom had the same problem earlier on this year, turned out the problem was a math teacher, lil bro is extremely smart, after he changed classes he was back from a D to an A. I dont know the situation here but if your son is a good student and all of a sudden this sort of thing starts happened when all of his other classes are ok you need to look into it.

A lot of ppl may say take this and that away, you are the only one who knows the situation with your child. Is this an emotional problem, a learning disability, or just him being lazy? Only you can say what is approperiate for your kid, some kids taking everything away extremly will have the opposite effect.
